Harman's nightmarish experience before his first stage performance at IIFA

It was his first live performance and choreographer Shiamak Davar who's IIFA's resident dance aficionado didn't make matters easy for Harman Baweja. According to a source, practicing his steps with Shiamak has been a lesson in "unlearning the learned", as someone close to the actor put it.

Elaborating on the nimble-footed Baweja's traumatic experience the source says, "Harman and Shiamak chose the slow and rhythmic 'Milo Na Milo' for IIFA. Harman of course had mastered Remo's original steps and he suggested to Shiamak that they retain the original steps since audiences hadn't seen much of Harman's dancing skills anyway. To Harman's surprise delight and relief Shiamak agreed to retain Remo's rhythms. The young actor couldn't have hoped for better."

For almost two weeks, Harman practiced the original steps in front of Shiamak. Then the super-choreographer had a change of 'mime'. Shiamak decided that the number must be done entirely his way.

Says the source, "Suddenly, Harman was told that the steps were being changed. After practicing for weeks, he was thrown completely off-course. Harman had no choice but to comply. But it was quite a harrowing experience to first do the original steps from the film for stage under Shiamak's guidance and then at the eleventh hour have them changed completely."

Harman laughed off the ordeal nervously on the eve of his departure for Bangkok. "All this is part and parcel of showbiz. I've to get used to slogging and I'm not scared of hard work. So far the only live audience I've danced for is me."

Interestingly, Priyanka joined Harman at the end of his act. "But that's only for a bit. I was solo most of the way,' Harman asserts.

Abhishek Bachchan is upset after it was revealed that Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra bagged the prime roles in Ashutosh Gowarikar's next.

Abhishek believes that it was Harman's father, Harry Baweja, who got his son the much fancied part in What's Your Rashee. Abhi wanted himself and wife Aishwarya to be offered the parts, as the next step in his career is to work with an Oscar nominated filmmaker. Says a source, "Harman and ladylove Priyanka Chopra signing a prestigious film like Ashutosh Gowarikar's What's Your Rashee? hasn't gone down well with several industry folk. They are trying to find out how Harman clinched the deal. They want to know if his dad Harry Baweja had anything to do with it."

Adds the source, "It is learnt that even Abhishek is upset. After Jodhaa Akbar, Ash was hoping to sign Ashutosh's next. On the Miami sets of Karan Johar's Dostana, Abhishek, Ash and Priyanka were together but there was no bonding between the Bachchan couple and Priyanka, who incidentally, was given the name Piggy Chops by Abhishek!"

Continues the insider, "Though several stars including Miss Thailand Khun Farung Yuthithum and others walked the ramp at the IIFA 2008 fashion extravaganza on Friday, the night ended on a sour note due to the childish behaviour of the Bachchans. The moment Harman and Priyanka walked on stage Abhishek whispered something to Ash which triggered off a bout of giggles from her. Ash and Abhi kept laughing, giggling whispering and pointing to the Love Story 2050 couple. The senior Bachchans were seated ahead. Hearing their giggles, Jaya had to turn around and ask what was so funny. Both Jaya and Amitabh realised that Priyanka was feeling uncomfortable."

abhi and ash are so mean...i really h8 them....they are jealous at harman and priyanka.....it is really ashutosh choice who to put in the movie what your rashee....abhi ash really need to learn, spoilt kids. priman,it doesnt matter.....abhi and ash are just spoilt filmstars.....abhi ash are so not professional.....

Showcasing two tracks from their film, Priyanka and Harman had the audience eating out of their palms.

The act began with Priyanka Chopra performing to her track from the film looking every bit of a pop star that she plays in Love Story 2050. And then half way through her act we couldn't see Priyanka on stage – she was raised high above on cables to make way for Harman's grand entry.

For his first live performance and that too before the release of his debut film, this young lad had girls in the audiences sighing. Dancing magnificently, Harman looked a lot like Hrithik Roshan in his early days but probably only better. Clean steps, more fluidity and a well proportionate body only made him look a lot more ready for the top that Hrithik did in his Kaho na Pyaar Hai days.

Defiinitely one of the best act.
