AK: India should stop the flow of runs at least. Conceding a boundary in every over by spraying it too full or on pads is not going to help. Stopping the flow of runs may frustrate the batters a bit.

India lost two reviews already. They are running out of reviews and it is going to hurt later.

STAT: Joe Root becomes the first to complete 1000 Test runs at Old Trafford. Having also amassed 2166 runs at Lord's, he becomes the third England batter to aggregate 1000-plus Test runs at two different venues, after Alastair Cook and Graham Gooch (both did that at Lord's and at The Oval).

Siraj to Root, 1 run, chance of a run-out missed! This reared up from a good length and Root fends it towards gully. The fielder stationed there gets his hands to it with a dive and parries the ball towards Jadeja who was stationed at backward point. They call for a single and Jadeja had all the time in the world to fire a throw at the bowler's end. Root was almost halfway down the wicket when the run-out chance was missed out. Was a risky single especially with Jadeja as the fielder. Lucky escape for England's mainstay, would have been curtains for him

A wicket-less first hour as England have stretched their total past the 260-run mark. There were a few chances created by the Indian bowlers, but Pope and Root were lucky enough to escape them. Jadeja had a chance to run-out Root at the bowler's end with a direct-hit, but he missed it. The occasional deliveries are keeping low, but the England batters have managed to keep them away. Would be interesting to see their approach in the next hour or so.
