First time since 2015 that both teams have made the same total. India win the first innings 48-41 on boundary countback, Matt Roller jokes. England will have to bat for about ten minutes, Nasser Hussain says. India made 71 and lost five in wickets in the session. The batting was decent from the lower-middle order. Jadeja played in different gears during his 72. Reddy supported him before nicking off to a Stokes snorter. Washington joined Jadeja to put on 50. Woakes and Carse got a couple quickly before Archer finished it off.

England will have to come out and bat for six minutes before stumps. The end came fairly quickly for India once Woakes got rid of Jadeja to break the seventh-wicket stand of 50 between him and Washington Sundar. The word from the venue is that Jurel will keep wickets for India, not Pant who scored 74 earlier today. It was his run out on the stroke of lunch that gave England a way back in. Until that point, India seemed to be ahead with that partnership between Rahul and Pant.

387 is the fifth highest total where both sides equalled their first innings (ninth instance overall). Each of the four higher totals ended in a draw.
