On the second day of the WTC Final 2025 between South Africa and Australia at Lord's, the bowlers once again dominated the field, taking 14 wickets.

Highlights of Day 2

➩ Temba Bavuma (36) and David Bedingham (45) pushed hard, but Pat Cummins dismissed the lower order. South Africa was All out for 138.

➩ After taking six wickets for 28 runs, Cummins reached 300 wickets in Tests.

The fall of Australia's second innings

➩ Lungi Ngidi (3/35) and Kagiso Rabada (3/44) came back and took Australia with a 73/7. An eighth-wicket partnership of 61 runs between Alex Carey (43) and Mitchell Starc (16)* retained Australia.

➩ At the end of the day, Australia was 144/8 and led by 218 runs. Nathan Lyon (1)* and Starc (16)* will bat again on Day 3.

➩ Two DRS reviews got lost by South Africa, and Marco Jansen dropped a catch of Starc at the end of play.

Only two successful chases of 280-plus at Lord's till date: 342 by West Indies in 1984 and 282 by ENG vs NZ in 2004. The first was a nine-wicket win led by Gordon Greenidge's 214*, the only wicket of the innings coming via a runout. The second was a seven-wicket win for the hosts, led by Nasser Hussain's 103* in his farewell Test.
