The race for the playoffs is over as MI take the last remaining spot with a comprehensive win at the Wankhede. The Capitals never threatened the target of 181 as Mitchell Santner put on an absolute masterclass while being complemented beautifully by a well-rounded attack. There was evidence of turn even in the first innings with the pitch being dry and slow. And it stayed the same even in the second innings with dew seemingly not a factor. The conditions were perfect for him and Santner just showed his class as he ran rings around the Delhi middle order after they had lost their top three to the new ball. So it'll be GT, RCB, PBKS and MI in the playoffs, and the focus will now be on a top-two finish in the remaining league matches.

Faf du Plessis: We were excellent today in the field. The guys showed great fight. The bowlers pitched up, obviously not the easiest pitch to bat on, probably made the bowlers' job a little bit easier. Still, it's a very strong batting line-up and I thought we were excellent and then just let it slip in the last 2 overs. Momentum is a real thing in cricket, the way that they counter-punched to get almost 50 in the last 2 overs, all the hard work that we did for 17-18 overs ... lost that momentum. If you looked at the two teams before today's fixture, it was a case of David and Goliath, I enjoy that because it gives guys the opportunity to really play together as a team. Credit to them, Rizvi today showed some signs, he's got some talent there. When you're playing against a powerful team like this, you need to be at your best all the time and unfortunately for 17-18 overs we were and then the last two overs we were pretty average, With the bat, you need a good start on a surface like that and we didn't get going at all with the bat. Sums up pretty much our season, we've been cold in either batting or bowling in the last 6 or 7 games. To be in the top four in the IPL, you can't afford to do that. So probably a fair reflection not to make that top four. (On missing Axar and Starc) Especially Axar on a wicket like that. If you look at the way that Mitch Santner bowled, they are very similar bowlers. To bowl four overs, I think he went for around 10 runs, Axar is that kind of class bowler, international proven left-arm spinner. On a wicket like that, he would have loved to bowl. Unfortunately, he was very sick the last two days. Starc is a fantastic bowler, but especially the spinner on a wicket like that is worth gold. Momentum - I am a big believer that you got to make sure that you never take it for granted. When you are on top of the wave, you got to make sure you don't lose it as quickly.

I want either of Iyer or Hp to win this time Vk ke liye bhi ek baar ho but wha log jeete nahin hain ek saal ur add hoga Iyer needs to show that he is a good captain BCCI is ignoring it they relay on ipl although Ipl shouldn't be the only criteria... Gt ka bas 3 batsman chalne cahiye so I doubt if they will win but it will good to see a new team winning twice...

Mitchell Santner: It was nice. Slightly slower wicket with the red soil. The more overspin you bowl, the more you get out of it. Today, that was my job, mic it up and keep the batters guessing. I bowl stump-to-stump. Obviously there was a little bit there which was nice so you could essentially bowl a bit straighter. As a unit, we were great with the ball. But it was set-up by SKY and Naman to get us to 180 which was probably over par on this wicket. We have shown that in the last few games, the guys up top trying to swing the new ball and it's always nice to have Bumrah at the back end of the powerplay. We adapted well. I try to change my pace and the slow ones today were turning.

Hardik | MI captain: I can throw the ball to them (Santner and Bumrah) whenever I want, they bring such control and perfection which makes my job very easy. We would've been very happy to get 160 but the way Naman and Surya finished it. Especially Naman, to come out and just hit on a difficult track was outstanding. (Interview cut short because of rain)
