So what do we have in store for us today in Kolkata? LSG have a horde of in-form batters, not least of all Nicholas Pooran. And they face a tough challenge in the form of KKR's spinners, not least of all Pooran's compatriot Sunil Narine.

Undoubtedly, a lot of focus today will be on LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who came into the season after becoming the most expensive buy in IPL history, but has got off to a slow start with the bat. But is it too early to judge him? Karthik Krishnaswamy explores his curious case in his piece.

Thamizhachi : "Is this the first time we are having double header on a weekday (non holiday)? " This season? Yes. In the history of the IPL? I am sure there have been a few instances in the past. This is also the first afternoon game at the Eden Gardens in IPL 2025. Why is this happening on Tuesday afternoon? Here is your answer.

Mustafa Moudi: "The 3 Teams that havent Won the Trophy since the inception are in the Top 4 while the 2 Teams with Most IPL Trophies are in the Bottom 3. Also, the only 2 sides that have played just 3 matches each are in the Top 4 while the 2 sides that have played already 5 matches are in the Bottom 3. This IPL is about expect the unexpected !!"

Thanks for the tag 💙.

If LSG bats first, score may be low??? Due to KKR bowlers? Not sure.

Or Mitch Marsh can dominate them also.

Pitch Report | Deep Dasgupta and Matthew Hayden: First day game here in the City of Joy. It is a fresh pitch, a little extreme on one side of the square so the dimensions are lopsided. On the right is a 57m boundary, while the left side is 70m. Straight is 69m. It is an interesting pitch which has a lot of grass, but when you touch it, it does feel rigid like the lawn mover has gone through it and cut the tops of it. Will it grip and hold during the day? Maybe it will and that could make it a little tricky to bat. There are some overhead conditions, doubt it will produce rain though. This surface won’t change much but as a captain, you’d rather bat on it and take on the short boundary. The captains need to be well aware of that. This has been a high scoring venue, but since it is a day game, it might not be as high as we are used to.
