I think it's the latter, somehow he found out Roshi was being blackmailed by that Shariq, and so decided to put an end to this once and for all - by either getting him kidnapped / arrested by police.

I still feel Talha's plan was to cancel Roshi and Shariq's wedding and not necessarily to marry her himself (atleast not on the same day)

If this would have gone by Talha's plan, he would have let the wedding cancel, spoken with and pacified Roshi, and then send his Dad for a proper rishta for her...

But, of course, Dadajaan ne saara plan hi badal diya... 🤪🤪🤪🤪
