Bangladesh have limped to 236. 300 was supposed to be the norm. But Bangladesh tried a blueprint which failed Pakistan yesterday. The only difference was Rahim and Mahmudullah tried to show some intent but the execution went wrong and they perished. Shanto waged a lone battle. Jaker came good again and they have ensured that they might fight with this total. Looks tough for Bangladesh as the deck doesn't have too many demons on it. Might be a little slow but still a fine wicket for the batters. Under lights, it might get better as well. Bracewell broke the back of the batting line up and bowled a spell which handed NZ four opposition wickets. The middle overs was supposed to be about consolidation but it was about rebuilding. The platform was never there. And whenever Bangladesh tried to build one, Bracewell spoiled their plans. Shanto kept going but even he fell. Rishad played a few lusty shots but was a case of too little too late. NZ need 237 to knock out Bangladesh and Pakistan. Will double the prayers for the Bangladesh bowlers help them infuse some spice into this game? We shall see. B

Michael Bracewell: It's a funny one, once you let go of the ball, you don't have much control. Today was my day. (On getting the ball to drift) Some lovely wind out there, nice to get some assistance from the wind, coming from Wellington, I bowl with a lot of wind. The athleticism is amazing in our group, that's something we try as a team, to try and put our bodies on the deck and make sure the opportunities are taken. The breeze took that catch (Shanto's) away from me. Hopefully it slides on a bit in the second innings. We saw in the powerplay it was great to bat, hopefully we can get off to a good start and carry that through.
