Hello, hello folks! Two days into WPL 2025, we've had two superb matches. Time to watch UP Warriorz in action for the first time this season. They take on Gujarat Giants, who had a heart-breaking loss in the season-openers. Would they have recovered from that loss? What kind of season with Warriorz, without Healy, have? We'll find all that out.

This is a new-look UP Warriorz. One that is without Alyssa Healy. Deepti Sharma has to shoulder additional burden this season after being named the captain. She has the experience of captaining Velocity in the Women's T20 Challenge but the WPL is a different ballgame. Ashish Pant looks at their squad ahead of the season. What do we think of their chances in WPL 2025? You can watch the Runorder to know more, if you haven't already.

Hello and welcome to the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara which will be the venue once again for today’s game in the Women’s Premier League. The home team Gujarat Giants take on UP Warriorz who will be playing their first game today. Ashleigh Gardner’s team couldn’t defend a target in excess of 200 in the first game, as RCB chased that one. They’d hope for a better showing today against the Warriorz who have plenty of in form players in their ranks. We’ve had two high scoring thrillers in the competition, and there’s no reason to suggest anything different today. We aren’t too far from the toss, stick around.

One of the themes that connect these two teams is the inexperienced Indians in the line-up. Deepti aside, the likes of Shweta Sehrawat, Vrinda Dinesh will have to step up with the bat and Anjali Sarvani, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and co. will need to contain the opposition to start well. We saw the other day how Giants struggled with their bowling, all of Kashvee Gautam, Sayali Satghare, Tanuja Kanwar and Priya Mishra struggled for control as well as wickets

Dew plays a part, it is a hard ground to defend, Gardner says. For them, it is about being clinical on the field and keep it simple. Giants are unchanged

Deepti and Warriorz also wanted to bowl first. They have had a few match simulations and practice games and learnt a lot, she's looking forward to the season. They bonded well through the camps and bonding sessions. Kranti Goud makes her WPL debut, McGrath, Ecclestone, Harris and King are their overseas players.

Very interesting from UP Warriorz to not start with Chamari Athapaththu. Probably something to do with most of the Indian batters in that line-up being top-order players. They have handed a maiden cap to Kranti Goud, a seam-bowling allrounder. She is a natural athlete, who runs in and bowls fast, gets the ball to move both ways. Began with tennis-ball cricket before being spotted at a cricket match in Gwuhara, a small town in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. You can read the full story of Goud's rise - from Madhya Pradesh to being a Mumbai Indians net bowler to finally being part of UP Warriorz for WPL 2025.
