Dear,

That path of thorn, grime and darkness

I really want to tread that path.

If I go on that path,

Everyone will talk ill of me;

Or perhaps they will not

As I don't really matter.

Whatever they may say,

I will go,

I am audacious to the core.

Yet I want to know something.

What will you do

If I tread that path, dear?

Will you stop me by force

Or will you leave me forever?

I feel scared,

You are the only chain

That my feet can not break.

Yet my heart whispers of hope.

It says that you will do nothing of these.

In that thorny, dark, grime filled path

You will walk, imprinting your footprint

Beside mine.

I will be surrounded by fear, danger,

Darkness, unknown and you.

Does it speak the truth, dear?

Fear and faith, both reflected in this poem, but hope is the biggest winner ultimately. A well-written poem Nibedita.

Among the numerous dishes

You take for lunch

I cook just one.

Even that I can not cook properly.

The dish always lacks salt,

Always becomes too hot.

Those who cook excellently,

I look at them with green eyes of envy.

It is not unknown to you.

Yet my heart hopes that

Your smile of affection,

The fulfilment in those two deep eyes

Will one day obliterate

All bitterness, jealousy, pain of failure.

In that hope I cook everyday

With too less salt, with too much red chillies.

Continous effort makes impossible possible.

Is that an eyewash?

Or is it true, dear?
