I am not against flawed FLs but the flaws of the FL also needs to make sense..and shouldn't look absurd. Here is a girl who got cheated upon, got abused physically and mentally..and the end result was her jumping from one man to another man..no proper healing,no realizations nothing...how can anyone relate to such FL?

I feel it was this too though. He doesn’t feel like she’s over Ammar and above everything else, he really believes she loved him deeply. He mentioned this already and I think this was the main hurdle. He also told Ammar that she only talked about dating him to get back at Ammar. He also called her stubborn. He’s aware of her nature and the timing of all of this and I believe this what made him weary about starting a relationship with Sadaf. The truth is though, no matter how much Bilal has made his peace with not having Sadaf, he will never not think of the possibility of being with her. It isn’t out of the realm of possibilities for him to consider marrying her and having confusing thoughts himself. He didn’t share this with Sadaf herself but a trustful employee who apparently has been with him a long time. It makes sense for his character. Divan just snapped him back to the reality of how Mirza Saab wouldn’t have approved.

When Bilal proposed to Sadaf, he was kind of living in lala land. He was beyond excited because he truly believed he could have this. He felt this could be a reality for him. He had never really felt that kind of happiness before. He became close to the family and in his excitement he pushed aside Mirza Saab’s words. Truthfully he was impulsive himself here and proposed too quickly.

Once Sadaf told him she loves and is committed to Ammar, the rose coloured glasses came off and he was looking at the situation for what it is. It’s when Mirza Saab’s infamous words came back to him and he told Sadaf on her mayoun day that he was even wrong for thinking about marrying Sadaf. He realized that Mirza Saab wouldn’t approve.

He’s repeated his words a billion times and it’s obviously something that really haunts him. Would he give him his blessings if he was alive?

The truth is that we may not like it but this type of behaviour is more common than we think. Not a great way of handling things but definitely a coping mechanism

I don’t get this either. What was the point of him relapsing if there was no follow up? Was it a one time thing or does he regularly drink again?

I feel Sadaf would agree to return to Ammar but this time he would leave her saying that he isn’t worthy of her . He would unite the leads at the end , kind of like Salman Khan’s characters in KKHH/Saajan.

The writer, director and actor needs to show this behavior with nuance and sensitivity for people to empathize with it, but here the writing and treatment just makes it look cheap and desperate. And to show all this while in iddat just makes it very hard to relate for many ppl and can be very offensive.

I will say one thing, 10 years ago, I may not have understood Sadaf but with time, I have encountered people like this. They aren’t necessarily immoral people but they kind of act out when their marriage crumbles. This is especially true if the guy cheated on them or was the one to initiate divorce. I’m not sure how many viewers would be able to relate though.

Yes completely agree. Add to this dialogue that can be interpreted in many ways and it isn’t leading up to the audience empathizing with Sadaf

I think Bilal will overcome the Mirza obstacle in this way... Either Sadaf or Bilal will have a dream. Whoever has it will come and tell the other… In the dream, Mirza will take Sadaf’s hand and place it in Bilal’s. This is the most logical way to resolve this obstacle. But of course, the crazy writer has a thousand kinds of madness in mind…

Yeah he may come to that but so far I’m just seeing crocodile tears and his victim mentality continuing.
