Max punishment is 10 years but Abhira planned to fight the case in a way such that they present facts , dont try to exaggerate or get over emotional. She figured that because Vidya is in first time offender and herself would plead guilty, judge will realize that crime toh hua hai but koi premeditated saazish nahi hai and factor in Vs age, clean track record, her "panic" which made her fail to act on time etc. But Sanjays actions put a total spin on the situation. He chose to lie, present fake evidence. So now this forces her and the state appointed lawyer to prove that Abhir is mentally stable, but depressed due to these events AND establish V as guilty given Abhir's precarious mental state which needs a "win" now.

Beech ka raasta was to get V proven guilty but with minimum sentence by fighting the case with only facts , no emotions. But that will no longer happen.

V is now coming out as extremely heartless because of what her lawyer did.

As audience, I was glad that at least one character is finally getting karmic payback but its of no use if its coming at the cost of Abhira blame again. Its pathetic how there's 2 extremes- either people go scot-free or they will pay but Abhimaan life will be destroyed as collateral damage.

I think they thought it would be cancelling her license and a heavy fine.

Judge humari team mein hoga isliye vitch ko itna serious punishment de dia.

Also Abhir os public figure so public and media ki nazare bhi is case par hogi so they have to be stricter.

BTS mein Abhir-Abhira scene had some bits where Abhir said- dont put your marriage at stake, I'll find another lawyer etc. but I think they edited all that out on purpose so that the narrative is clear that Abhir is counting a lot on Abhira to get insaaf. he has not put pressure of what magnitude of punishment should be, but only that he wants a court verdict pronouncing V as guilty. That gives him the sense of a "win" which he desperately seeks and that atleast justice was served. That becomes a trigger to make him find hope of recovery as well. In the Abhir-Abhira scene he told her that he may get back some hope again if he actually gets insaaf. so thats why Abhira cannot really tell him to do out of court settlement etc. IF Poddars truly wanted to fix things, they should have properly shown them do a LOT of convincing first. Tab shayad thoda sympathy milta audience ka. but the stuff they have shown is either full on arrogance and dismissiveness or dhongi parvaah. Vidya sleepwalking, screeching and crying, pricking herself with thorns in temple is NOT looking like remorse but rather reeks of dhonginess.

This is actually true!! They edited scenes in yesterday's episode. Vidya's situation is also not making sense to me. First she said she hid the truth to save Armaan-Abhira's relationship now she's telling she doesn't want to go to jail
