🏏Australia vs India, 4th Test: Melbourne, 26 - 30 Dec 2024: Day 5 🏏

Image

Australia already lead by 333 runs and the most runs scored on fifth day of a Test at the MCG is 334/6 by Australia (243/6) & England (91/0) in 1947/48 while the most runs by one team alone is 295/9 by Australia vs England in 1965/66. India will probably need to emulate their Gabba heist of 2020/21 where they hit 325 runs on the final day - the most scored on the final day to win a Test at any venue in Australia.

Australia have not declared. India won't mind that because it means less overs for them to bat and survive. This game is unfolding in similar fashion as the 2014 Boxing Day Test between these two teams. Australia posted a big first innings total, India got close but handed a first innings lead, then they were set a target of 384 on the final day and the match ended in a draw.

Pitch Report ft. Sunil Gavaskar: We could be in for a cracking final day in Melbourne. The pitch looks very very good. You will not find any cracks you generally find in Australia. There are no devils on the pitch as the last pair have shown. It is up to India if they won't chase the target or keep the series alive going into Sydney.

Finally all out

Australia lead by 339 runs. That is one of the great bowling performances from Jasprit Bumrah. He has given India a chance, even if it's an outside one. He just kept coming and coming. Amazing stamina.

Bumrah to Lyon, OUT

cleaned him up! Five for Bumrah. Lyon keeps his most-runs-without-a-fifty. Full and straight, hint of shape in, Lyon goes for the drive and is beaten through the gate
