And here's an update from Alex: "Rain getting heavier. Ground staff pulling the big covers on now. Previously it was very light. This should still blow through pretty quickly. Wind is quite strong."

Manoj: "Rain break will not be that good for the batters. Not only will they have to rebuild the concentration and focus, the wicket might be a little zippy. This is extremely inopportune. Good for the Aussies, though. They get a breather, they can regroup and replan." Not sure it will change conditions too much. They were already batting under cloud cover. And in terms of a break, tea was only 15 minutes away.

Supradeep: "Would it be reasonable to assume that this test even with all the time remaining, is heading towards a draw? Only 6 sessions of play left and the pitch seems to have almost no life in it." Reckon we are a long way from that at the moment. But India have done well to keep it as an option.

We should have an update soon. The covers are being removed. The umpires are having a word with the fourth official and the groundstaff.

15:45 Local Time, 04:45 GMT, 10:15 IST: Play to resume in 15 minutes - 16:00 local. The sun also seems to be peeping out as I can spot some shadows of the super soppers working on the wet areas.

The players are making their way out to the middle. The floodlights are still on but the conditions do look better. We have 39 overs remaining in the day and hopefully we can get them all in. Mitch Marsh will start proceedings in the final session. Two slips and a gully in place. We are ready to roll..
