They just hyped up Avinash to let him become more unhinged, otherwise it was just nonsense. They are just using him to target both Vivian and KV. Duffer Avinash doesnt realize he is just giving them the limelight instead of himself.

The Shilpa reason is so stupid and invalid, but then Vivian hasn't giving him any other reason to target either, so in all of this it's just free sympathies for Vivian.

Vivian was disappointing for going along with it though. And him asking KV later on was probably him forgetting to fake his rivalry with KV. I am very sure these two planned from the outside
