Yes, you can absolutely write a story based on entirely original characters. In fact, the contest encourages you to create your own unique characters rather than using existing ones... reminder : Choosing characters from books and movies are NOT allowed

However, you cannot combine two genres in a single story. Each entry must align with one genre and theme from the list provided, so it's best to focus on just one for your OneShot
