Critics who are believed to have been paid off by producers. Presenting the situation as they do a favor for the producer and get a box of samosa in return. The samosa in this case being a metaphor for money of course.

The likes of Kadel, Jaiswal, Tuteja, and lately even Taran are constantly referred to as samosa critics. And if they give a bad review then it’s assumed they didn’t get their samosas. As has been the case with the movie Kalki and Jaiswal & Kadel recently.

There are 'groupings' even at these screenings like in any other work space. So newbies usually are in a hurry, and huddle around the snacks (Samosas etc.) corner to get them. The seniors, the already experienced ones refer to them as Samosa Critics. They stay in a separate circle and have conversations with the producer/actor etc. whoever related to the movie attends the screenings.

Pehne Newbie Critic Samosa Critic hota hai, phir paise kamata hai. In the earlier days, production guys/PR arranged 'covers/envelopes' with money and passed them on with these 'Samosas' Snacks during the break or press meets. Nowadays, it is more digital, but the terms/slang have stayed on.

The review IF gave seems - to me - appropiate to the impression I got until now. I certainly will watch the movie exactly for what seems to be the forte: individual performances and the "banter"...something 'light' but still entertaining
