The USA vs Ireland match gained a major context given one spot for the Super 8 is still up for grabs in Group A. Pakistan's hope for the Super 8 qualification hinges on today's game. If Ireland register their first win of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 today, Pakistan still have a chance to qualify for the Super if they win the fixture against the Irish team.

A win for USA, currently second in this group with four points, or even a wash out tonight will put an end to the World Cup campaign of Pakistan, who have two points from three matches.

Ireland also are in with a chance of reaching the Super 8, but they look woefully out of sync at the show-piece tournament, and the task might be heavier against the US, who are playing some very good T20 cricket at the moment.

USA will be keeping an eye on the fitness of skipper Monank Patel, who missed the match against India with a left-shoulder injury with Aaron Jones filling in the captain's role in New York.
