The fireworks go off in Chennai. A one-sided IPL final like never before! A Knightmare for Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR's captain Shreyas Iyer takes a stump as souvenir and he has a bright smile. Kavya Maran, meanwhile, is in tears. Sunil Narine lifts Gautam Gambhir and KKR's mentor returns the favour. Two individuals who rarely show any emotions have beaming smiles on their faces.

He dropped the catch when Narine was bowling, but held on to it w/ Russell. Same batsman

Right, this was how the finale panned out. Both teams got what they wanted at the toss. Starc and Vaibhav nipped out the SRH openers cheaply just like Qualifier 1. The Aussie pacer was almost impeccable in the powerplay. Nitish Reddy got outfoxed by Harshit Rana and Russell separated the South African pair. Varun Chakaravarthy removed Shahbaz and Abdul Samad failed to make an impact. Harshit's slower ball got the better of Klaasen and he bowled a wicket-maiden. Narine was at his miserly best - 4-0-16-1. SRH got skittled out for 113 - lowest total in an IPL final - after opting to bat. In reply, Gurbaz got going with a boundary. Narine fell after smashing a six. Venkatesh Iyer came out all guns blazing - 4 6 6 vs Bhuvi and then 4 4 6 4 vs Bhuvi. Highest powerplay score in an IPL final - 72/1. Venky smashed a 24-ball half-century and hit the winning runs as Kolkata cruised to a 8-wicket win with 57 balls to spare. Plenty of sideline interviews coming your way before the presentations...

Venkatesh Iyer: Really happy with it. As Varun mentioned, Abhishek Nayar deserves all the credit in the world. Some contributions go unnoticed, I want to make sure they don't.

B Arun: I think it was pretty tough, the last two years. It was touch and go - we didn't qualify. It needed a lot of introspection and now we can savour this moment. [On Harshit Rana] He has been outstanding. It's about backing your strengths. [On Starc] I think Mitch coming into the team boosted the confidence of other youngsters in the side. He is probably the best bowler in the world. Once he understood the Indian conditions, he was excellent. Spinners mature with age, and with Sunny and Varun bowling in tandem, it was superb. [On Narine the batter] He brought a totally different dimension to our batting. It was Gautam who insisted that he opened and it paid dividends. It's a great night and now it's time to celebrate.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz: My mom is watching from the home. She is feeling good now. I asked mom before the match if she wanted anything. She said just the win. When Salt was playing, I wasn't expecting to get a chance but I knew it's a long tournament and I needed to be ready. Once I got the chance, I was well prepared.
