Thank you all so very much smiley31  Your feedback warms the cockles of my heart in the most delightful way possible smiley27

Several of you commented that "this" Armaan is better than the TV Armaan. The irony is that the FF Armaan is not my creation. He is an extension of the TV Armaan, except that I scooped the character up at a certain point in the show (the divorce papers showdown at the Mussorie temple), before all hell broke lose over there. If only the writers of the show had not gone down the route that they did... perhaps, the Armaan from the show would not have been as unredeemable, and, honestly, unwatchable. The FF Armaan is, to me, the authentic Armaan of yore with his flaws and all.

Updates, going forward, may be slightly delayed. I won't be able to update daily, but I'll try to post something soon! Much love.

PART TWENTY-ONE

Two months had slipped by swiftly, bringing Abhira to her graduation day, a moment she long dreamed of for so long, that to experience it felt surreal.

The sun cast its golden glow over the bustling campus, where the air buzzed with excitement and anticipation. Abhira had topped her class, narrowly surpassing KT by a few decimal points. As she moved through the crowded university corridors, a whirlwind of emotions swirled within her. She missed her mother deeply, wishing she could share this moment with her... but she felt her mumma’s pride shining down from the skies, carried by the gentle breeze and in the joyful chirping of the birds.

As Abhira entered the auditorium, her eyes scanned the sea of faces in the audience, until they found Armaan. He stood out amidst the crowd, his presence a comforting anchor amidst the chaos of the day. His eyes met hers, and he gave her a reassuring smile, filled with pride and encouragement.

She thought of the journey they had shared, the challenges they had faced, and how far they had come. Armaan had been her rock, standing by her side through every storm. Abhira felt a swell of gratitude for him, hoping that one day, she would be able to convey just how much his presence meant to her.

Since their conversation at Armaan's secret spot in Udaipur, something had shifted in him. It was as if something in him had broken, or perhaps, he had come face to face with the fractures within him when he had seen Dadisa at Goenka house that day. There was a new caution in Armaan now, a guardedness that hadn't been there before.

He was just as supportive as ever, always ready with a kind word or a reassuring smile. Yet, beneath his encouraging demeanor, Abhira sensed a lingering fear, a hesitation. It was as though he was constantly bracing himself for the possibility that their relationship, like so many others in his life, might be fleeting. This awareness pained her, knowing how deeply the wounds from his past ran and how they had left him wary of hope and happiness.

She couldn't help but think of how much she wanted to heal those wounds, to show Armaan that their bond was different. She wanted to prove to him that their relationship wasn't fragile or temporary, but a strong, enduring connection.

But she too was grappling with the fear that she might lose her sense of self and independence in a relationship. She couldn't forget how she had once been nothing but a responsibility thrust upon him, her identity reduced to a mere placeholder. As his wife before, she had not been Abhira; she had been a role, defined by responsibilities and duties that felt archaic and denied her uniqueness.

She knew it was his family, not Armaan himself, who had held those outdated views. Yet, wasn't he too a product of that very same family? Wasn't he the same Armaan who had been unable to protect her then? Despite his love and support now, might the old Armaan not resurface, even in the absence of his family?

Those memories from her days in Poddar mansion haunted her still... the sense of being swallowed by expectations that had nothing to do with who she truly was... the sense that there was nothing more offensive than her true self. She had struggled to find her voice, her individuality, amidst the suffocating demands of a traditional role. Now, as she stood on the brink of a new chapter, the fear of losing herself again loomed large.

Yet, Abhira wanted to believe that things would be different this time, that she could maintain her independence and sense of self while being with Armaan. She longed to balance the love she felt for him with her need for personal growth and freedom.

She took a deep breath, and reminded herself how he had always allowed her space, respected her boundaries, how he had encouraged her to try new things, even clubbing. He had initially not even wanted to join her, content to let her go with her friends, trusting her completely. Over the past year, he had never insisted that she behave or talk in a certain way. Instead, he had constantly asked her what she wanted, never imposing his own wishes on her.

And he had shown so much care and concern for her, putting her first at every step of the way. When he had merely sensed that she might be upset when going back to Mussorie after her final exams, at the time when even she had not known that she would discover the dark truths buried in her mother's diary, he had dropped everything and flown to Mussorie to be with her. And he had never expected anything from her. The slightest act of kindness on her part came to him as a surprise. Even her friendship towards him was something he felt the need to thank her for.

It had been a revelation, seeing this side of Armaan. He had been so different from the man who was bound by the expectations of his family. He had given her the freedom to explore, to be herself without judgment or constraints, and he had appreciated and even admired the real Abhira. She thought of the countless times she had needed to pry out from him what he truly wanted, and force him to express himself. It was always about her happiness, her choices. His selflessness was almost frustrating at times, but it also showed his deep respect for her autonomy.

She was definitely starting to see in him, not the shadow of the past, but the promise of the future. The fears that had once loomed large began to diminish, replaced by a growing confidence that they could build something beautiful together.

Her thoughts wandered to earlier that day when, in a moment of panic and despair over the yards of fabric to handle, she had texted Armaan who was waiting outside her hostel room, and he had stepped in to help her wear her mother's saree. The memory ignited a blush on her cheeks as she recalled the intimate moments they had shared. His touch had been both gentle and respectful, his fingers navigating the intricate folds with care, yet charged with an undeniable intensity that sent shivers down her spine.

He had maintained a respectful distance, and was just as guarded as he had been since their recent visit to Udaipur, barely even looking at where his hands travelled, and yet... as he stood close behind her, their bodies almost touching, Abhira had felt a surge of warmth coursing through her veins. When he had draped the saree over her shoulder, his breath had fanned against the crook of her neck. With every subtle movement of his hands, adjusting the saree, she had felt her heart race faster, her senses overwhelmed by the closeness between them. His hands, steady and sure, had moved with such grace, despite his careful restraint.

Their eyes had met in the reflection of the mirror, and in that silent exchange, Abhira saw a depth of yearning that mirrored her own. In that moment, his gaze bore into her with an intensity that felt almost palpable, as if it possessed the power to unravel her very being. She found herself ensnared within the depths of his eyes, their emerald hue aglow with a mesmerizing golden undertone that seemed to flicker like flames in the night.

His pupils, dilated ever so slightly, only added to the magnetic pull of his stare, drawing her in with an irresistible force. It was as if he could see into the depths of her soul, laying bare every hidden thought and emotion with a single glance.

In that gaze, she felt a multitude of emotions swirling within her, a whirlwind of longing, desire, and vulnerability. It was as if he had the power to strip away the layers of her carefully constructed façade, exposing the raw essence of her being. It was a gaze that transcended words, speaking volumes in its silent eloquence, leaving her breathless and yearning for more.

As he had adjusted the saree, his fingers lingering a split of a moment longer than necessary, she had felt her breath hitch, the air between them thick with unspoken longing. His respect for her boundaries only deepened her desire for him. Abhira had felt herself losing control, her body responding instinctively to his, intoxicated by the raw intensity of their shared desire, her senses alive with the promise of what lay between them.

When he had finally stepped back to admire his work, the lingering warmth of his touch had stayed with her, a reminder of the unspoken desires that simmered within them, just beneath the surface.

Abhira smoothed the folds of her mother's navy blue ikat saree with trembling hands, trying to anchor herself back to the present moment. Her heart pounded in anticipation, the excitement of the occasion mingling with a sense of nostalgia for her mother, and a flutter of nerves. Soon her name would be announced, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Abhira straightened her posture, her gaze fixed on the stage ahead. She was ready to step into the next chapter of her life, armed with the knowledge and skills she had acquired, and fueled by the passion and determination burning within her.

"Abhira Akshara Sharma," the announcer's voice boomed through the grand auditorium, drawing every eye to her as she rose from her seat. A surge of emotions swept through her, a potent blend of excitement and trepidation. With each step towards the stage, she felt the weight of her journey, the trials and triumphs that had shaped her into the person she was today.

As she ascended the steps, the spotlight embraced her like a warm embrace, casting a halo around her figure. In that moment, she felt an overwhelming sense of pride wash over her, a validation of her hard work and dedication. The applause of the audience was a symphony of recognition, echoing the echoes of her achievements.

Reaching the stage, Abhira stood before the Dean, her heart pounding in her chest. With trembling hands, she accepted her certificate, a tangible symbol of her perseverance and resilience. She felt a sense of purpose swell within her. She was not just fulfilling her own dreams; she was honoring the legacy of her mother, a woman whose strength and courage had inspired her every step of the way.

With her certificate in hand, Abhira knew that this was only the beginning of her journey. She was ready to embark on the next chapter of her life, to chase her dreams and make her mother proud. A sense of anticipation tingled in her veins, propelling her forward towards a future filled with endless possibilities.

After the ceremony concluded, the air was brimming with palpable excitement, the atmosphere alive with the jubilant chaos of tossed caps and heartfelt embraces. Amidst the flurry of excitement and celebration, Abhira's heart raced with anticipation as her eyes found Armaan watching her from a distance, his entire frame beaming with pride.

Without a second thought, she sprinted towards him, a radiant smile gracing her lips as she closed the distance between them in a flurry of motion. Their embrace was unlike any other that they had shared before. It was fierce, almost bordering on painful as the force of her momentum collided with his sturdy frame, causing him to stumble backward slightly.

But in that moment, as Abhira held onto him tightly, the intensity of their hug transcended any physical discomfort. Despite the stumble, Armaan anchored himself, wrapping his arms securely around her, enveloping her in a cocoon of love and warmth. The overwhelming rush of emotions drowned out any sensation of impact, as they held onto each other as if afraid to let go.

In that moment, amidst the jubilant chaos surrounding them, time seemed to stand still. They were lost in the warmth of each other's presence, their hearts beating in synchronicity as they reveled in the sheer joy of being together. With Abhira's graduation, perhaps the most difficult part of their journey together had come to an end. The distances that had once seemed insurmountable, both physical and emotional, would soon feel like distant memories, fading into the backdrop of their shared history.

And as they reluctantly pulled away, their breaths mingling in the space between them, both Abhira and Armaan found themselves momentarily suspended in a charged silence. Their lips were slightly parted, the urge to lean in towards each other, almost overpowering, but they held back.

Abhira's cheeks flushed with a rosy hue as she looked down shyly. She could feel her heart racing, the warmth of Armaan's presence still lingering on her skin like an echo of their embrace, and fought to regain her breath.

Despite his best efforts to temper his expectations, Armaan couldn't suppress the playful curve that tugged at the edges of his lips. The sight of Abhira's bashful demeanor stirred something within him, a longing that he had tried to bury beneath layers of caution. But in that moment, as he watched her, he couldn't help but feel a hint of hope blossom in his heart, defying his rational resolve.

Enveloped in the aftermath of their embrace, a sense of contentment settled over them, as they walked, hand in hand, navigating through the throngs of graduates and their families, each step bringing them closer to the unexpected encounter that awaited them.

Lovely chapter! I could imagine it all.

Each moment was so well described.

Its so wonderful to read about her graduation- her dream she worked so hard for and her topping her class!

Her fears, insecurities and  also worry about Armaans state are valid. Theres also an undeniable changed dynamic and attracion between her and Armaan . They hit reset button ever since they met at the court for divorce. I look forward to their post graduation celebration, living together in delhi and everyday learning more about each other while still retaining their individuality.
