The nature of the IPL is such that the fortunes of a team can change quickly. A team at the bottom can make the climb, and a winning run can suddenly change into a stunning slide. It's the sheer volume of the games that provides an avenue for the teams to make a comeback. Like in the case of Delhi Capitals.

Earlier this month, on the seventh, things weren't looking too bright for DC. They were handed a 29-run defeat by Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium and were struggling with their campaign, having managed just one win out of five matches. But they have managed to turn it around. The Capitals have climbed to the sixth position after winning three out of their last four matches - including a thrilling victory against Gujarat Titans - and go into the return match against MI with a lot of confidence.

Rishabh Pant has been one of the driving forces for DC's turnaround, along with the likes of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs. Kuldeep Yadav has been DC's leading bowler while Axar has time and again kept it tidy. DC's problem is with the pace department, where the likes of Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed have been leaking runs, although in their defence, the pitches have not been of much help. The emergence of Rasikh Salam, who bagged three wickets against GT, is a positive for DC.

For the five-time champions, it has been an inconsistent journey with three wins out of eight - their last being a nine-wicket loss to table-toppers Rajasthan Royals. They have just not been able to hit the right notes this season despite having a powerful side on paper. The new skipper, Hardik Pandya, will be an anxious man, with the team placed at No.8 currently and the clock ticking.

Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma have been scoring the bulk of the runs for MI, while Nehal Wadhera also impressed in the last match. Ishan Kishan has had a few low scores ever since his 34-ball 69 against RCB. Captain Pandya hasn't quite hit the straps so far and MI's overseas combination, barring Gerald Coetzee with the ball, has also not made a mark yet. The bowling has largely depended on Jasprit Bumrah, who has been brilliant as ever, but MI need others to stand up and support the spearhead.

When: Saturday, April 27 at 15:30 IST

Where: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

What to expect: The last two games at this venue have been high-scoring. Expect the same for this game as well. The last afternoon match in the IPL in Delhi was between CSK and DC last year, with the former scoring 223 after batting first and then restricting the hosts to 146. Teams have had success here batting first, including the two IPL 2024 matches played so far at this venue. An unexpected, brief but heavy spell of shower disrupted practice for a while, just like it did a day before the DC-GT game. But the forecast for the game time is bright and sunny with a high of 38 degrees Celsius.

Teams watch

Delhi Capitals:

Injury/Availability: Ishant Sharma and David Warner won't be available for the match, with the two players still recovering from injuries. DC, meanwhile, have roped in Afghanistan's Gulbadin Naib as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh and the Afghanistan cricketer has already joined the team and participated in the team's practice session on Friday (April 26).

Tactics & Matchups: Rohit Sharma has been dismissed thrice by left-arm pacers in this IPL, which will make Khaleel Ahmed a good option for DC. Rohit has also fallen to left-arm spin twice this season, including his dismissal off Axar Patel the last time these two teams met. Axar is also a useful option against Suryakumar Yadav who has not been very fluent against left-arm finger spinners - 86 off 83, 6 dismissals.

Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abishek Porel, Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje/Jhye Richardson, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar. [Impact sub: Rasikh Salam]

Mumbai Indians:

Injury/Availability: MI do not have any injury concerns at the moment.

Tactics & Matchups: Jasprit Bumrah comes out on the top in terms of matchup against Rishabh Pant, having dismissed him six times in 43 balls, conceding only 48 runs. Bumrah has also dismissed Prithvi Shaw twice in 22 balls and has accounted for Axar Patel three times in 45 balls.

Probable XI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Mohammad Nabi, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah. [Impact sub: Nuwan Thushara].

Did you know?

- Delhi Capitals have been the most successful side in this IPL in terms of spin, with their slower bowlers having bagged 21 wickets so far, the highest for any side, at an average of 22.23 (best) and an economy of 7.91 (second best). Mumbai Indians are the polar opposite, with their spin numbers being at the bottom of the list - 6 wickets (least), an average of 61 (highest) and an economy of 9.98 (third highest)

- Among those who have bowled a minimum of 15 overs in this IPL, Axar Patel's economy of 7.06 is the second-best. Jasprit Bumrah leads the pack with an economy of 6.37

- The pacers have an overall economy rate of 10.85 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium so far in this IPL, the highest for any venue. DC's pacers have an economy rate of 10.91 in this IPL, the highest for any team

- The DC pacemen have an economy rate of 14.31 (which is the worst), while their spinners have been a lot better in overs 16-20, having an economy rate of 7.63 in the 8 overs they have bowled. MI's pacers have an ER of 11.27 in the death despite Bumrah's frugal numbers in this phase (7.20)

Rishabh Pant announced his return to form in remarkable fashion in DC's four-run victory over the Gujarat Titans in their previous match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It was a game in which DC seemed to have landed on a winning strategy in all departments and also looked to have finally moved on from depending on their top order.

The majesty of Jasprit Bumrah

IPL 2024 DC vs MI Live Score, Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians: Jasprit Bumrah's economy of 6.37 is by far the highest among those who have bowled a minimum of 15 overs in the IPL, with the next best being Axar's 7.06. MI's bowling attack have been a sputtering mess at times but Bumrah has been bowling in a world of his own. He has followed up his stellar performance in the Test series against England and the World Cup before that with this and thus established himself as the best bowler in the world across formats by some distance
