That was a different time. When you are an A lister there are certain expectations. A cameo is acceptable but not a side cktr role (unless it's an ensemble in a prestige project),

indoor scenes can be shot quickly and together. I’m guessing outdoor and different cities is what takes most time but that doesn’t necessarily have to translate into screen time. Lots of factors go into shooting based on locations and dates of actors.

I think teaser or promo would give us the best idea about the kind of story it is and who the mains are.

I had watched mein in february once it got over and I completely had fun, yes wished it had a better storyline yet it wasn't so terrible of a show.

If his role was changed mid-course, another A-lister would have thrown their weight around and resisted and not give in. This is unchartered territory for fans. Koi A-lister kabhi nahi dekha jo itna obliging ho ke apna cktr or ss ko sabotage hone de. Jo agar aisa hota bhi hai, phir woh A-lister nahi rehta. In this industry, if you let people use you, you end up tossed like a tissue paper in the dustbin. Wahaj has an issue with saying No and he likes to please people - others have said so about him. Isiliye fans ko darr hai.

But who is to say he didn’t fight for the character? And was shot down? We don’t know right. The only way for us to know is if he ever signs with the same team again. He has also said that he takes feedback seriously. His own words. So while I understand the concern it feels like people do get ahead of themselves a bit - based on one show. Which we don’t even know when he signed. And with a concept which was actually great, a character which sounds good on paper. The problem was that execution of the character was not top notch and we don’t know how much Wahaj fought over it. These are just assumptions.

He had a great last year overall. 3 hits, one blockbuster, a green show with good views for a new channel, and a movie which got him good feedback. A mini series. God knows how many photoshoots and ads.

22 qadam was a 4 character story. Shot years ago. They just promoted it as Hareem Junaid when Wahaj got super popular lol. But they utilized him and gave him great scenes throughout. Just the closure lacked.

Mein was the real tragedy. The show flipped in quality so much whenever he had screen time - he was so so good. But then when they underutilized him, it was frustrating as hell. So lots of ups and downs when it came to him in Mein. I still remember post wedding in episode 9 or 10, Wahaj aced it until his second wedding. Then he got into the background again. When he was present, he made it work.

the good thing is that at least the scenes he will have in SMD, the scenes will be written well and have memorable lines. It won’t be a hurried casual formulaic crap keh bus jaisa bhi likha hai, guzaaro

I agree with you about his performance in Mein too. When given the chance, he performed well. They just stuck him in background most of the time but even then, I found his expressions inline with the character of Zaid. Wahaj has always stood out even in supporting roles so it was odd to see him off to the side. My frustration didn’t just come as a Wahaj fan but as someone who was enjoying the show. I felt Zaid’s perspective was needed for the sake of the story as well so I don’t know why they bypassed that.

I am more hopeful about SMD but little worried that it feels like he hasn’t filmed much. Then again, I don’t have his personal calendar so I can’t be sure about how much he has actually filmed.

None of us know how Haseeb has divided the shooting. Perhaps there are parallel storylines and he’s dealing with them as such. Filming accordingly. Or completely out of order. We can just speculate and hope for the best. I do think the delay in any release of posters or promos is also making people second guess a lot of stuff.

all we can do is hope for the best and continue being patient. It is frustrating ☺️
