I watched uptil epi 7 of Dobara so I thought I'll quickly post some thoughts before I continue watching

So Mehru-Mahir ki first meeting and the initial friendship was quite naturally built up.....second convo mein hi Mehru started confiding in him about her frustration with why people don't like to see others happy and Mahir ne bhi kitna matter of factly bol diya ki you do what makes you happy, bhaad mein gayi duniya.....lol....also the instant ease with which he calls her Mehru...unknowingly fulfilling one of her deepest yearnings to be called by that name that almost seemed lost from her life now. Then inka woh first breakfast scene where she's like maybe you should call me Aunty and he's like no way, kyun rishte ke jhanjhat mein padna, we are friends only

Mahir ki woh GF toh mujhe gold digger hi lagi....faltu mein pressure daala to get a gold ornament for rishte ki baat and uske pressure mein Mahir ended up stealing...ofcourse stealing was not right but no one seems to care about the circumstances of his life and koi sahi guidance nahin deta, bas laanatein thopta hai.

I thought abhi toh thoda time hoga before people start gossiping about them but yahaan toh day one se hi log MM pe affair ka ilzaam lagaane lag pade....lol they have just about become friends and logon ne kitna aage ke ilzaam laga diye hain about affair, dusri shaadi and kya kya.

I thought Mehru will continue to be defiant about wanting to do things that make her happy but then woh drama came to a head in epi 7 with her son lashing out at Mahir...lol kaise gusse mein chadh gaya ki mere baap ne kabhi Mehru nahin bulaya toh tu kaise bula raha hai and aage se Mahir is like agar bulaya hota toh mujhe bolne ki naubat nahin aati. But then you can see why he ultimately backed down because he knows the pain of a mother-son rift and didn't wish that on Mehru.....and then Mehru also backs down cuz of this argument only and goes back to her previous state of caging herself in isolation.

A lot of the narrative is about society constantly gossiping about a woman, feeling ownership over her in every way, what she does, what she wears, where she goes.....and the absolute suffocation of that. Koi chain se jeene nahin deta.

Woh Epi 7 waale confrontation mein toh Affan was giving ekdum Toshu from Anupama vibes...lol wohi nikamma beta dictating to his mother that she has no free will cuz she's a mother and her life only consists of what her children demand....waah beta

Her daughter tries to speak up for her but I guess uska woh scheming husband will also be part of the gang trying to do badnaami of Mehru and take advantage of her. Mujhe shuru mein laga he will be a nice guy but woh bhi kameena nikla. And ofcourse that faltu Phupho toh hai hi bakwaas.

I like how they are showing both Mehru and Mahir bringing something to each other's lives....Mehru is helping him reconnect to his parents, giving him the parental perspective since most of his life has gone in feeling abandoned by his parents and Mahir is helping her live out the childhood that was snatched from her 20 years ago, uplifting her when the world tries to run her down. Dono apne demons se battle karte hain but try to give positivity to each other.

Gold digger hi toh hai..the way they pressurized himmwith their gold thing ki demand like plz who does that.. there was nothing genuine in that maa beti kisi ke paas car hai toh usko bhi side main latkao keep as an option and then ask for gold too when it is not even engagement and specifically mention too that you want kangan.. she is so annoying chuhiya si toh hai and demands dekho kitne bade bade. Ofcourse maahir was wrong in stealing from his own but that's the thing exactly why we really can't blame him fully too it was the situation the pressure the only way he could have fulfilled it was by stealing it.. as we always say it is the neeyat that matters behind any wrong action too which makes all the difference and that too when she prompted him to steak too gave an idea but maahir isi liye galat nahi lagta Caz it is the haalat... at that time only his side love story was the thing going for him or so he thought so he did what he could on order to keep atleast that one roshta for him jahan atleast she was pretending to care for maahir the person when he has been abandoned and was considered bhoj and basically sabke saron pe thupa hua jiski kisi ko zaroorat nahi hai.. I mean his mom even said you were a mistake I wish you hadn't even been born..matlab apni choice of giving him birth bhi maahir ki galti..woh toh phir bhi shareef aadmi ki Tarah itne broken haal and house main bhi apne biological maa baap ko leke aaya tareeke se for rishta. His step mom ofcourse over reacted but then think from.her pov too uske liye toh shock hi tha not only the stealing but that her husband actually was going behind her back to get the son married.. that too with his ex.. see this is what I liked a lot in this show ke the negatives of the characters are also shown actually with a reason yeah you may not support their actions but they had their proper reasoning behind them.. maahir only wanted to protect his love at that time but usko bhi hallat timing and over reaction ne kitna ajeeb rang de Dia and yet how he took it in his stride and was coping with it without self pity was worth it..he literally came on road but then halaat ne itna dheey bhi kar Dia tha ke he stopped pondering over it and tried to act all normal when it was no less a jhatka to him too esp the karwe words the cruel behavior from step mom and dad not having itna sa bhi say..nobody ever trying to take his side or trying to understand him..it is these little moments where my heart went to maahir real hard it is those little nuances those little expressions bilal does to show his pain in between that hit you right in the feelz

Loved when mehru told him that agar usko takleef hai toh GTFO he doesn't own her or when she used to say to his face how pehle baap ne control kiya ab beta karne laga hai.[/b]

So I have to say I was cringing big time when Mahir for real proposed to Mehru in the hospital bas apne dost ki faltu baaton mein aake.....yehi flaw hai iske character ka....he says he doesn't get affected by logon ke taunts, but he does....that loser ex GF of his taunting him that he will never get love cuz he's a liar and his lukkha loser dost bharoing his kaan ki Mehru loves him and is his easy ticket to a comfortable life.....yahin Mahir ke grey shades show up....he knows right from wrong but still ends up getting influenced by what others say to him. Isse pehle his character was going well in the friendship build up with Mehrru but yahaan se lies ka silsila shuru kar diya by claiming he loves Mehru....lol anyways I can see where this is going so filhaal zyada nahin bolungi

So main story I guess is about how their relationship evolves post shaadi....the falling in love toh has been muddied up with lies wala proposal and bas kisi tarhaan shaadi karvaani thi toh chalo ho gayi....lol it's good though that they showed Mehru clear eyed enough that he is likely marrying her for her money....but she has chosen to accept the proposal even then cuz she likes his companionship. And Ibtisaam uncle itna samajh gaye that Mehru needs a shrewd mind standing with her to handle all the vultures in her life.....lol so yahaan kaam aayega Mahir ka skill set and uski MBA bhi finally apply hogi
