How was today's episode?

Saturday Ananya, Piyush & Vaibhav were the best

Surprisingly Anjana did well for a change for me.

Subhadeep ok

Obom OK

Adhya I love that song in her voice.

Deepan was weak

He was brilliant on both the days.🎤❤️

Special mention to Vaibhav today. His song really made me cry.🥺💔 Such a soulful performance.

Yesterdays songs sound good, hope I’ll be able to catch up during the week.

why no double elimination this wknd?

I have a lot of respect for Kaveeta K. Personally I did not appreciate her comment after Subhadeep’s performance about trophy going to Kolkata. WTH about rest of India? Remember show name is Indian Idol. I do not condone regionally biased comments. 👎👎🙁🙄 show your support for a contestant that you see him/her in top 2. Nothing wrong with that but comment as such shouldn’t be made by a professional as herself .

Ananya & her father relationship issues should have been handled privately instead of putting the dirty laundry on National TV. PUTTING ADDitional pressure on her to forgive & move forward. I think she handled it bravely. I personally thought it was very distasteful. Even channel-show making fun of Vaibhav & him sucking his thumb for 19 yrs old adult is a NO NO

If they're going to introduce drama aspects, I would expect that it's at least done tastefully. I thought that Ananya's segment was disrespectful to her, given the nature of her relationship with her father -- these things could've been done off-screen, and recapped next weekend during the episode.

As for performances: Piyush, Vaibhav, and Anjana were great. Adya was also surprisingly pretty good.

The warning comments for Subhadeep and Ananya were definitely concerning (not that I entirely disagree with them, but clearly they're being held to a higher standard, as frontrunners as both performances were still solid). Even more concerning, it looks like they edited out Subhadeep's performance of Breathless (which was in the preview at the end of Saturday's episode), likely for the drama in Ananya's segment. Either he's headed for a 7th place exit, or he will finish top 3. The producers airing Kavita ji's comments make it seem like the latter is more likely, but after Utkarsh's elimination, I guess we never really can guess these things. Tbh if either of them are eliminated before the finale, I probably won't watch it (other than clips that will circulate on Youtube afterward).

Obom and Dipan were both fine, I guess. I think given Adya has had a good week, these two will probably (should) be 8th and 7th respectively.

I’m so glad they had Javed Akhtar as a guest, he doesn’t normally appear often as a guest and he’s written so many brilliant songs. I loved him as a judge on Fame Gurukul, so was nice to see him today. Only wish they sang atleast two songs each, but maybe that’s being greedy. Was Piyush the only one who didn’t sing today? Or did I miss his performance?

My review for today:

Obom - almost every episode starts with him singing. He sang chehra hai ya Chand khila hai. It was a very very average performance. Intonation was flat a lot of times.

Anjana - Hawa Hawaii- brilliant. She’s suddenly taken such a turn and churning out such likeable performances. I always said she could do better and was only being given certain kind of songs. I could say this was the best performance of the day.

Dipan - sach mere yaar hai. He has a very heavy masculine voice (in a good way), very much like SP Balasubramaniam. I’m conflicted about his performance, I definitely liked it, I’d even say it reminded me of the original, yet there’s something that’s not right. I can’t explain.

Vaibhav - main Jahan rahoon. Enjoyed his performance. There definitely was a lot of feel to his song. I’m afraid he won’t make it to the top 5, just what I feel.

Adya - Tum bin mora jiya lage na. Not a bad performance but not even a good performance. It’s hard for me to like any of her performances because I’m not a fan of her voice. But this didn’t sound as bad as some of her other performances sound.

Shubhadeep - kal ho na ho. I really enjoyed his performance. I was happy to her Kavita Krishnamurthys message for him. I think he’s underrated on the show, but for me he’s definitely in the top 3 along with Piyush and Ananya.

Ananya - yeh kahan aa gaye ham. After today I’m convinced she will win, though todays performance is probably one of her weaker ones. In spite of it not being as good as her other performances, it was still very very good.

I’m not a fan of drama on reality shows, and airing the segment of Ananyas father was in poor taste, although they did ask her permission. Poor girl, if she’s say no, she’d face brickbats. And then everyone commenting on her and her father’s relationship was just putting pressure on her. She did handle it well though.

These are private and very delicate matters, and should be left to deal with in private. Even if her father contacted the makers of the show, they could’ve shown her the video in private.

Next week, I do hope Adya is eliminated and if it’s a double elimination Adya and Obom go together. They’re clearly the weakest right now.

They really don’t care about someone emotions at all. This season is getting more worse week by week. They are probably doing to give Ananya more screen space and to promote her more since finale is coming near and I don’t know what exactly happend in the episodes but reading everyone opinion over here that’s not the right way to promote some even if they are doing that. It’s really disgusting they shouldn’t have done that to her but hey it’s itv they will do anything for their benefit.

So from all the reviews, it looks like one more year of not having a female winner.

I have a feeling (though admittedly biased) that Arunita was probably the best contestant whom the channel could have supported to become the first female winner. Probably even Sireesha in that year. But they tried to push Sayli that year who was far behind the others and hence they lost that opportunity.

What about Anjana? She is the most followed contestant on Instagram. She is the winner of IIJ, has a good support from judges and the channel.
