Ha ha... Farhan had it promised to SRK during the shooting in Berlin... but then...after four or five times during the following 12 years that Farhan/Excel hinted at Don 3 to promote other own movies, SRK said that he wouldn't be available anymore...and Excel quickly made the Ranveer-announcement .

So:

1st Don = AB

2nd Don = SRK

3rd Don = RS

Imo, that would only make sense for the SRK Don movies and Ranveer (depending on the story).

Farhan's Don was a remake with a twist, so AB's Don has no personal relation to the SRK-Don...

However, if the Ranveer Don is just a Don-story with no relation to the SRK Don, then ... well... no.

Personally, I reproach to Farhan that he didn't keep his promise he made at the end of Don 2, even though there had been the controversy with PC...a creative mind should have been possible to figure out a story without Roma appearing in the movie (or only with old footage).

Yet, I also think that Ranveer should not have to bear the anger by SRK-Don-fans... it's in no way his fault.

Yes, that's true. The fact that SRK's film is essentially a remake means it wouldn't make much sense, story-wise, to feature SRK and Amitabh together. With Ranveer's Don 3, it'll be interesting to see if he's a new character set in the world of Don and Don 2, a remake of SRK's character, or something entirely new but without any connections to the first two films.

I wonder if maybe SRK will have some sort of cameo or guest appearance. It would be interesting if this could set a story for Don 4 featuring at least SRK and Ranveer together as co-leads.

I don't remember the ending of Don 2, what was the promise Farhan made there? It's funny that rumors were that PC is the leading lady of Don 3, although I've never believed those stories since she's completely out of BW now.
