"Will this be the first time that Ashwin goes wicketless in a home test innings?" Not quite, Sundar, although it's a pretty rare event

And that is why India are so difficult to beat on home turf. Because once the wickets fall, the floodgates open and things can end very quickly. England got a good start, with Duckett and Crawley added 59 for the first wicket. The latter played brilliantly, using his long strides to good effect to score a fifty, before a superb backpeddling catch from Shreyas Iyer sent him packing. Then came a sublime spell of seam bowling from Jasprit Bumrah. A lovely outswinger to Root, an inswinging yorker to Pope and a cutter that went under Stokes' bat. Bumrah's spell reduced the potency of this aggressive middle order on a placid pitch, as India fought back strongly in the second hour post Lunch.Kuldeep chipped in with three wickets for himself, and a rare scorecard for Indian conditions because Ravi Ashwin has gone wicketless. India in the driver's seat with a lead of 143 runs now. Let's see if they can end the day with all wickets intact.
