There is a difference in playing a supporting but well-written and impactful role vs a supporting role that is poorly written with little margin to perform. See Junaid in 22 Qadam played by Wahaj. Junaid is not the lead role but even then his cktr has an arc (ignore last epi), there was plenty of margin to perform and Wahaj's performance was impactful. SRK in Dear Zindagi is another example. The issue with Zaid is not the lesser screentime only but that it is poorly written and leaves so little impact.

He blackmailed her, threatened her, harrassed her and at the same time played with the emotions of the fl, still when they didn't make the lead pair the endgame everybody gave gaalis to badar and big bang why because feroze khan was playing that character, he was a negative character, his actions were morally wrong still people wanted a happy ending for him..

Here also it's the same case mj is gray morally wrong and still people want her to be with the so called ml so that she gets a happy ending..

Kaddu uncle gave interview for Tere Bin and said the same about Khani. People demanded both main characters to end up together but he couldn't allow it as male character was not a good human, makers have a responsibility, grey characters or dark characters can be interesting and appear charming on screen but treatment of that character is responsibility of the writer.

Take Murtasim for example, he wasn't a vanilla character, he claimed to kill people casually. A man who suggested that Meerab should be married off to stop her from completing her education was the one to give her admission form, that's growth. He was tormented by Meerab's absence in his life for 2 years, lost growing years of his daughter.

You have 2 red flags, a good human with many flaws (Murtasim) and a bad human with a few good qualities (Khani's husband). One can be redeemed, other can not

Zaid divorcing Mj would be betrayal .No matter how bad she is, she cared for him when he was sick while Ayra was ignoring his calls even before being locked up.
