Here's Neal: "Must be time for Rehan Ahmed. He was a little loose in game one but perhaps he will be better for the run."

"End of day 2 of first test. Almost everyone was doing the 5-0 talk. A couple of days of cricket later, India seems so nervous and can easily get into another shell." Test cricket, Kannan. Funny. Old. Game

They took two wickets, the big one of Rohit Sharma falling to debutant Shoaib Bashir, while Shubman Gill was dismissed for the fifth time in Test by James Anderson. Even at the age of 41, Anderson is proving himself to be so effective in these conditions. He was brilliant in his first spell, holding a channel outside off, ensuring his speeds were up, and nipping the ball in and out.Didn't get rewarded with the new ball, but came back to dismiss the man he has a good record against.

"Is it the weakest batting line-up fielded by India in last 20-25 years??" It's certainly not their strongest, Ashu. Fewer Test runs in the squad than Joe Root

"Very unlike Rohit here," muses Gana. "Feeling he is being weighed down here due to the stakes of home domination and also lack of batting experience in this team."

it was the opening wicket of the Indian captain that would've given England so much joy. Bashir getting Rohit caught at leg slip to an innocuous looking offbreak. Maybe there was some extra bounce given how tall the 20-year old spinner is.

wonder what Virendra Shewag would have done to this bowling line up on this pitch... " Mitan, either out before 10 or a hundred by lunch. Bashir over the wicket to Rohit with a slip and a leg slip

He has been impressive here, bowling accurately and also putting good revs on the ball as he uses his body a lot in his action. Good signs for England going forward in this Test.

For India, the highlight has been Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored another fifty today, although this one was a controlled effort. Can he go big?
