I think that was first weekend BO..

I think total domestic BO was 5 cr total. It was a passing comment in a video by a lollywood person talking about indie/parallel cinema type of films.

Bilal seems to be very happy with the success of IM. He's posting stories back to back.

Happy for him ❤

Thanks. Pak movie industry is realllllllly non existent. They just rely on tv shows. Wasn't tmk also supposed to be a telefilm?

This is such a strange situation. I don't think I've heard of any country where movies are not a big deal.

Yes, pak film industry is dead. Amna and Hassan said there are 93 screens in the entire country. The highest grossing movie from the last four movies that were released was Chikkar with 70 lacs.

Movies only make profit if they get a big release released outside of Pakistan.

probably because the tv stars are the celebrities in the country . When you can see your favorite star for free on tv why pay to see them on a bigger ? I also heard the tickets for films is really expensive so people won’t go see just any film unless it’s an experience like maula jatt

The last 4 movies were social cause films or arthouse cinema and were not promoted much.

MBG which came out in July 2023 made 12-13 crore. Carry on Jutta 3 which came out also in July made 28 crore. A year before that, a total artsy female-centric film like Kamli made 5 crore, and it was released in non-holiday period. So while Pakistani cinema is at its low point, a 46 lakh weekend BO is still quiet underwhelming.

Comparing box office of a film like Chikkar with Nayab which was heavily promoted, had the Yumna Zaidi, and was a family film, makes no sense. People did not even know Chikkar was coming and it was never promoted. It doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. It's a heavy film about a social issue. It also starred Usman Mukhtar not Yumna Zaidi whose stardom is at its peak now.

Let's hope Nayab gets decent collections internationally.

It might be also the way the movies are shot... I don't know if it's the norm but the way nayab looked from the promo, it seemed like a TV show..

... Maybe someone with better technical sense can explain it but the camera angles, the color scheme, the cinematography - it all seemed like a TV show... Movies are shot differently.. I would watch nayab on ott but not actually go to theatre and spend time and money.. .

Ahmed was everywhere promoting Gunjal. Yumhaj fans uskey pechey lag gaiey thy because of mention of Y in this IVs and still it didn't even beat Chikkar. MBG and carry on Jatta were Eid releases which always make more money.

Yes let's hope that. Nahi bhi kerty tu humein Kya. Bus Pakistan will absolutely stop making movies. Aisey he becharo ne itny mehnat se promotions ke 🫣
