May be I am wrong but I think why armaan mom was not accepted was because Madhav was his favourite, and he married someone random of low class according to her. Similarly if Rohit had done the same may be dadisa would have been more stricter to Rohit and his wife compared to her treatment to Abhira. As it is shown that dadi want Rohit to be a bigger and better lawyer than Armaan similarly she may want a better wife for Rohit than armaan. As with Ruhi coming from big family she is happy that her Rohit got something better than Armaan.
