🏏South Africa vs India, 2ndTest: Newlands, Cape Town - Day 2 🏏

Live visuals tell us it's another scorching day in Newlands. Rohit, Dravid, Rathour and analyst Hari Prasad are engaged in a deep discussion in the middle. Dravid's gaze shifts from the pitch to a video Hari points to on his iPad.

Dean Elgar, South Africa's retiring stand-in captain, stopped short of calling the pitch poor, but admitted that the conditions were very "challenging"

Hello and a warm welcome to all of you for what could be the final day of this Test and series. The final frontier will remain a dream for now, but India have valuable WTC points at stake.

On most days, a gigantic collapse, like 6 for 0 we saw yesterday, could be match-losing. But India find themselves ahead and by a distance because of Siraj and, of course, Kohli's mini-classic in dodgy conditions.

The second session saw 111 runs being scored for the loss of 4 wickets. That's usually an action-packed session in a Test. However, yesterday in Cape Town, that turned out to be the most sedate one. It shows you what a crazy day it was. Hello everyone and a warm welcome to the second day's play of the second Test between South Africa and India. Will this match go to day three? Siraj's sensational six-for resulted in South Africa getting bundled out for 55 in the morning session. Three out of the top four Indian batters got starts and they had an opportunity to bat their opponents out of the competition. Instead, we saw an unbelievable collapse - W 0 W 0 W 0 0 W 0 W W - and India could only muster a lead of 98. Elgar, who scored 185 off 287 in the previous match, ended up getting out twice in the day in his farewell Test. South Africa still trail by 36 runs and have seven wickets in hand. India will be the happier side at the moment. Is it even possible to see something weirder than yesterday? Will sanity prevail today? Let's find out. Action coming your way in 30 minutes...

"Another gorgeous morning," pings Telford Vice from Newlands. "Whether the pitch calms down from yesterday is the key question," he adds.

Heavy roller being used. India's coach, Rahul Dravid, is watching it keenly. The South Africans are in a huddle with Shukri Conrad doing the talking. The Indians are also in a huddle, some inputs from captain Rohit.

Pitch Report: Shaun Pollock and Sunil Gavaskar: You don't want these kinds of conditions. If you bowl a full delivery, it's fine. If you bowl a short delivery, it's fine. But it's all happening from a quality length and there's nothing you can do as a batter when it hits that area and stands up steeply which we saw on happen countless occasions. Was it a 55 wicket? No. Certainly wasn't a 250-300 wicket. These types of pitches are dangerous for batters' physical health. Spinning pitches are dangerous to baters' reputation. It's not very easy for batters to play, little of the skill involved. It has to be an even covering of grass. Little bit of grass here, bare patches there.
