Dunki left me with very mixed feelings. I think of all of Hirani's movies, it has the least universal topic. The topic of Dunki or why anyone would need to do this or that people do this isn't one that most people who watch Hirani's movies can truly relate to unlike 3 Idiots or even PK. I felt Hirani aluded to this in the chat with SRK and Tapsee. Many of us are privileged and would never think of immigration in this way. Given that, it makes the topic and movie very important for those wanting to take this path so they fully understand what it means to do this. In that, I felt unlike his previous movies, Hirani didn't beat us with a stick until we get the important key points - for example, that you cannot go back to India, that life is difficult when you're illegal isn't highlighted as it should be. It's some mere dialogues so it doesn't register as much. He should have highlighted those more...
The humor and storytelling is actually very typical Hirani, but it doesn't land - its stale and the cast/ characters lack a chemistry and I think needed a stronger group of actors. I love SRK but he needs to stop the de-aging VFX, and so do all of the older actors. There is NO need to have stories that require you to play a younger actor. I can't figure out if BW doesn't know what to do with its older superstars and a story with older characters, or they insist on having roles with younger stories for a period?
That being said, I thought it was a weak performance from SRK. He was overacting - Hirani needed to reign SRK in our someone should have told him.
But it's a pity - I think we are all stuck with action movies from BW for a while... everyone chasing numbers.

Dunki at #4
Dunki is doing really well here in Australia. The show I went to yesterday was house full.
I can relate to your mixed feelings...I also came out of the theatre with mixed feelings (albeit not about exactly the same points you name).
Generally, I need a second watch when in doubt as I have to concentrate on the subtitles to get the story and dialogue, too much to get nuances in acting.
As I only know the Munnabhai movies, I may have had another approach to this movie than those who are more familiar with the Hirani movies.
As for the de-aged SRK in a young man role, I feel, it shouldn't become a part of his next characters to play...
which one is it, do they count or they don't?? Because if international collections don't count Jawaan is the highest grossing movie not DangalOriginally posted by: Shaitan-Haiwan
International collections don’t count. Moments over.

I am sorry but how are people trashing the film? It was soooo good. People should watch it and not judge it just by trailer or songs, even I thought it'd be below-average but it wasn't. The acting by all three Vicky, Tapsee and SRK (& other supporting cast) was top notch.

Is this genuine?
It shouldn't be on streaming platform when it's still in theatre
