its really sad that the indian film industry has turned into this monster of desperately chasing after BO numbers, thats the only thing that matters anymore, which is so damaging to the industry. Lets just forget about making quality movies or movies that people will remember, just as long as it makes 300 plus crores then thats all that matters, because that makes the actors the biggest superstars and the directors into superstars.
I mean so what if a movie doesn't make 200-300 plus crores, as long as it makes a profit then thats all the producers should care about, and more than anything the audience should like the film, but here we have a situation where people don't even care if it's a good movie or not, all that matters to them is opening day numbers and box office so they can prove an actor is the bigger star.
Now we have another film coming up called Fighter, and eyes are on that to see if hrithik can prove his superstardom
they will compare it to other stars box office collections to see where hrithiks ranking is, i mean can people chill and stop with this constant over analysis?
If actors, directors and producers are inflating numbers and doing these corporate bookings then that shows the sad mindset the industry is in.
Already people think srk won't do movies like dunki anymore because it's not doing the business pathaan or jawan did, so is srk only gonna do action films now? This box office obsession really restricts an actor and director, as they only do movies which they think will earn the mega bucks at the box office, no wonder why the quality of movies has severley gone down.
All i can see on the forum page is threads about salaar and dunki's box office, how much did each earn on this day, that day, that not earning over 30cr on a single day makes the movie a flop, seriously? There is hardly any discussion about the movies themselves, did people like them, how could the movies be improved. In Hollywood there is very little discussion about box office, and so much more discussion about the movie itself, the screenplay, the cinematography, the acting, but obviously these things do not matter as much in the indian film industry, all that matters is box office and superstardom.
Barbie made a billion dollars at the box office, but you don't see people hailing margot robbie as this invincible superstar, no one is expecting margot robbies next film to make a billion dollars, people are praising the quality of the film and saying it is the movie itself that made people watch it,
