now wait for rejected DonIf I missed the entire plot of the movie then that's because it wasn't shown properly. It's not just me, but many others who feel that the entire narrative around open borders was ridiculous.
If they wanted to say that Dunki is bad, then except for that one sequence in UK where they face reality of illegal migrants, they weren't able to portray that. Maybe instead of those lame classroom scenes, they could have shown the plight of these people more post Dunki. The storytelling was BAD.

I haven't watched the movie, but maybe he was trying to show that when people are in a desperate situation (lack of economic opportunities/ unemployment) they can fall for Dunki schemes and some people even lose their life over it. I don't bother about most movies, but if this movie stops people from falling for Dunki schemes, then I am for it
The idea of Dunki is fantastic and also novel. Nobody has done a movie on this concept before and that is the reason I went to watch it despite the subpar trailer.
Also, what he wanted to show vs what he showed was different. He should have focussed on topic in hand and not digressed to the entire narrative of open border thing. That will only cause chaos in the world. Or if he wanted to prove this point right, then dialogues should have been better and more logical.

Crying continues.
My parents loved Dunki and I am so happy.
Dad is very pickup about movies and esp rejects them if they are slow or disjointed or having bad script. But he really loved it and said he wants to watch it again with me when he gets back to Blr next week 😁
And mom loves SRK but is very pickup when it comes to genre. She did not like Pathaan and found Jawan decent, but loved Dunki.
Better than any review and boxoffice news for me, personally
SRK is back as the family favorite
I think Hiranis main message should have been focused on two things only
- the desperation that leads people to dunki
- like everything else in this world , travelling and looking for greener pastures is limited to the rich while the poor cannot access it even if their need might be much greater.
He should have centred the script around these two points and steered clear of the open border thing, and it would have had a much greater impact
