So it took a bigger opening than Jawaan outside India. I know it opened bigger in Australia and the US (Though that's dody cuz previews). Jawaan did have a mid-week release, but this is A-rated and all that.

Jawaan opened at 126 Cr worldwide, but Jawaan opened like 10-15 Cr higher in India.

Top Ten Opening Days All Time - Animal Third

Animal has recorded the third highest first day of all time as it collects 52.50 crore nett and becomes the fifth film to collect over 50 crore nett on the opening day. the other four being War, KGF 2, Pathaan and Jawan. The opening is third best ever and the third best of the year showing how far the opening days have come for the big films. Basically the four biggest openings are all post pandemic.

The film is by far the highest opening day for a Ranbir Kapoor starrer as it beats the 34.19 crore nett of Sanju and 30.37 crore nett of Brahmastra. In between Brahmastra and Animal there was Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar which opened at 13.98 crore nett showing the potential difference of genre today. The difference was there pre pandemic but now its gone to a different level.

The difference between a Brahmastra and Animal is that Animal caters to the mass male audience in a big way while that is not the case with Brahmastra. The way the hero is projected always made a huge difference with this mass male audience and its no different today. Also this a huge bulk of the initial audience and to get an initial you have to cater to this audience. This is where films like Animal, Gadar2, Jawan and Pathan have scored.

The numbers of Animal also show that the holiday is also now not as important as pre pandemic when the film has initial appeal. If it was a national holiday then it would have done better but only by 15-20% when earlier the holiday boost was generally higher. This is as audiences are frequenting cinemas less and waiting for the bigger films and now they dont need the holiday as much as before where the box office was spread more evenly. The top opening days for Hindi films are as follows (Hindi language only)

2. Pathaan - 55,72,00,000

3. Animal - 52,50,00,000 apprx

4. KGF Chapter - 52,39,00,000

5 War - 50,61,00,000
