So, I have finally watched the film (not in the theater, and please don't ask me where and how
)
Here's my small review (Contains mild Spoilers):
The film is an out and out Ranbir film, and he acts brilliantly. Kudos to him for getting into the skin of the character, mentally and physically.
The film delivers what it promises which is violence, gore, an engaging story (with some dull moments), good BGM, great cinematography and good performances by cast.
The story is about a son's unconditional love towards his father, and how it develops into an unhealthy obsession.
Since this is Sandeep Vanga Universe, the hero is a MCP, but I won't label him a total misogynist because he loves and supports his sisters, in his own MCP way.
A few dialogues in the film have been kept to trigger "woke" people.. In a few scenes, Ranbir indirectly refers to himself as "Alpha Male"
which I personally found hilarious rather than triggering.
Rashmika's character is treated badly in the film, but she does stand for herself. Her character inot a complete doormat like Preeti from Kabir Singh.
Bobby and Tripti appear only in the second half, and have lesser screen-time than I expected them to .
Anil Kappor is good in his role. Rest of the supporting cast is good in their roles.
Tripti shared good chemistry with Ranbir. And I hope she gets good roles after this.
If you don't like violence, then you will find yourself getting a headache in some long fight scenes. But I have to give credit where its due, action choreography is top notch.
I have watched a lot of Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarrantino now, so I feel I have become quite desensitized to the Gangster genre.
I somehow did not get triggered as much I expected myself to be. Probably because I was prepared and I knew what I was getting into.
So my advice would be to just watch this film as if you are watching Mahabharat, but from Duryodhan's POV.
My Rating: 4/5
Edit: I forgot to mention that a sequel is promised in the post-credits scene of the film. And looks like it will be bigger and better than this one.
Good news for Tripti's fans, she might have a bigger role in the sequel.
