Mereko laga tha these RRR protagonists are the only two main nepos. This is fascinating actually, considering how big of an issue nepotism has been in Bollywood for the past 2-3 years

Forgot to mention advi sesh is also another non nepo actor …dude was an nri who moved back to India, improved his Telugu to get rid of his American accent, wrote his own films (mostly thrillers) and shot them on a tight budget and made decent profits …

Nepotism in Hindi films is since Prithviraj Kapoor, problem bas SSR Death ke baad se aani shuro hui.

Naah he did mostly thrillers …goodachari which was an espionage thriller, kshanam which was remade as baaghi in Hindi….and he did Major based on major sandeep unnikrishnan’s life who lost his life in the 26/11 attacks …

Major was produced by mahesh babu

He also did HIT-2 recently, which is a cop thriller franchise produced by actor Nani …HIT 1 was remade by rajkumar rao and sanaya malhotra in Hindi with the same name HIT…

It’s quite blatant in Telugu too coz nepo kids usually have references to their dads and families in their movies …ram charan used to keep doing remakes of his dads songs till ppl got sick of it …ntr jnr constantly has dialogues in films meta referring to his grandfather …

It has gotten a bit better these days tho with it being toned down ..possibly after the nepotism criticism …

Possibly also coz the newer filmmakers steer clear of this bs …

The tables have turned. Now, BW directors would give such bitter statements about Telugu artistes. Pehle Ramcharan wagera Salman ko request karte the release ke time pe tweet kar de, ab BW wale in logon se bheek mangte phirte hai.

I would also add Nikhil (below) to the list of prominent non-nepos. He is the only of the Happy days movie who's made it big after Tamanna. He's seen good success with small budget movies. His Kartikeya 2 did good business recently when everything was flopping right and left in BW.

There are also some other main leads, not as big as AA, Mahesh, Jr.NTR etc like Raj tarun, Sharwanand, Satyadev, Sri Vishnu, Naveen Chandra, Kartikeya (RX100 fame, remade in hindi as Tadap), Anand (Vijay's brother) etc etc

And in the prominent families list I will add Mohanbabu also. Also an outsider who has 2 sons (Vishu and Manoj, both actors) and Lakshmi (the less said the better about her - peculiar personality would sum her up). He owns 2-3 production companies like Manchu entertainment etc, also is very very prominent in education in the Telugu states (schools and universities). Not as influential as the Daggubati family and all, but he has a lot of sway in telugu movie associations. He also fights with Chiranjeevi publicly, so there's that

Casteism is also rampant in TW but with nepos there is a lot of variety and off late equal opportunities for outsiders is also there more than BW I would say. There is almost a healthy mixture of nepotism backed movies and non-nepo movies, so the heat is slightly taken off from nepo discussions, unlike BW where the scale skews on one side a lot. South actors and stars are also not so forthright with promotions and interviews like BW folks, so these things don't come out as much. Same with Tamil and Malayalam industries. Compared with TW, Tamil and Malyalam industries have a better ratio of nepo to non-nepos.

Adivi Sesh's cousin is a director and his grandfather is anyway known as a famous playwright and novelist. He's not completely uninitiated with TW, I'd say he's like Kiara Advani of TW, where he knows a lot of famous people but has no direct familial connections.
