Tushar wants to try to bring them together. So he is seeing some hope.

On what pretext did Tushar send him? Did he figure out?

She threw away the keys. He is stuck there now.

All alone in the house. No keys for his escape. Perfect.

That would be so nice. A little TLC is long overdue.

Walk-In Repairman

“I can wait for him” he shrugged taking off his rain parka

Just a white tee and khakhis…, though soaked around his calves, his bare feet sparkling, washed clean

“Did he…”

“No I don’t have anything I don’t have any of your parts” she charged back into the room and spat out

“Are you sure?” his eyes danced mirthfully

“Oh I am… the child is mine actually… no part is yours” she declared passionately

“Interesting…” he leaned on the runner table arms across his chest

Harold just ran circles around him, periodically pausing to shriek at her

“You are so sad…. Don’t look at me” she cursed him

“You don’t have to wait on me Taara” he turned the fan on

“Bahar baarish hai Pradyut” she was horrified

She left him and went into the kitchen

She was fixing khichri for herself

The rain pounded the kitchen window… as the wind swept it sideways

She increased the volume on her radio and just bend down cooking

“There is so much food on the counter why are you cooking?”

She dropped the spatula in panic

“Its so greasy its making me nauseous” she said quietly

A look of concern swept over his face

She lowered her gaze unwilling to ack it

“What are you making?”

“Khichri”

He entered the kitchen and pulled a spoon from a spoon holder on the wall and tasted the food from the house warming

She tried not to look

“Taara can I have my keys?”

“Nahi… your Mum begged me” she muttered

The window shutter blew open and crashed against the side wall, as rain lashed the inside of the sink, the grill rattled …

“Why is the window grate not sealed into the wall?” he asked in shock

“It is” she said casually reaching to shut the window… she puled it in with the handle

The grate separated even more

“This could easily let a person in, who has such large windows in the kitchen

“The backyard verandah is closed off” she shrieked over the rains

The cooker went off

Harold licked scraps off the floor

“Except ur kitchen window is not part of your back verandah” he leaned, tilted his head near the window and looked at the grey skies

“Nobody breaks in to this neighborhood” she muttered

Letting him examine the window

She finished up making the raita… and pulled out 3 types of pickle jars from the humungous kitchen shelving

“THAT’S not greasy?”

The cooker went off again

He opened the cupboards in the dining room and asked for tool shelf

“Its in my brothers’ room or Mom & Dad’s upstairs

He just stared dumbfounded

“Mujhe kuch fix karna nahi padta, Sunil aur Deepak lekar aate hain agar kuch hai to”

The window opened again

He found a kitchen towel and tied the handles together

Hunted for the tool chest

Fixed the window from the inside since he couldn’t walk around the property from the outside with the rains pelting, and no one to hold his flashlight for him

He leaned over the kitchen sink the whole time, she served herself khichri took her phone songs, and left the room

“He will feed u rain water, ja na uske paas” she scolded Harold

“K Fine I love you too” Harold licked her feet and followed her to the couch

She called Pallavi

“WHERE is my brother? There is someone here looking”

Pallavi hung up in fear quick…

She sat cross legged on the couch in her saree, pallu tucked into her waist, the large bauble like sparkling faux stone jhumkas shaking every time she chewed, the papad

Harold waited patiently on his back paws…

“You have to promise me only “I” matter to you” she whispered waving her spoon

He tilted his head hoping rice would fall

There was none

She threw him a papad bit

“I promise” Harold thanked

Pradyut returned to find her chowing down

She didn’t look at him

“No I don’t have your keys” she said polishing off the last couple spoons

He ate his khichri quietly, she wouldn’t serve him

He served himself

“Housewarming ka khaana nahi kha rahe? It was your favorite na?”

He set his plate down and approached her purposefully

“I don’t have…”
