Shaun: "AUS would be disappointed with the middle order woes which has been a cause of concern for them since the SA series, really fast starts and then losing clusters in the middle and end seems to have been the template that they have been following."

Mitch Marsh: "Threw another one away didn't. Probably the hottest conditions I have ever faced as a batter. The wicket was beautiful but as you could see I was pretty cooked towards the end there. For us to get 350, it's a great total and hopefully we can defend it now. We saw that changes of pace worked towards the end there. I think 350 is par. As you saw the wicket slowed up at the end when the ball got older. Hopefully that's the case for us and 350 is too many."

The highest ODI total on this ground but one feels Australia missed out on getting 400. Warner and Mitch Marsh started so well in the powerplay when the ball was hard and new. It came on well and the openers made the most of it. Warner after reaching 50 was feeling the effects of the heat and fell to Prasidh. Soon Mitch Marsh was joined by Smith and the duo strung a stand. But both batters again felt the heat of Rajkot and every over saw drinks being run out. Just before his 100, Marsh fell and then Siraj got Smith soon after. That and the soft ball slowed down the Australian innings. But Marnus carried on from there and even though wickets fell at the other end he continued to carry the team forward. India fought back and kept the total down to 352 when at one stage 400 and even more was a real possibility. A tall chase on the cards and it will be interesting to see how the Aussies bowl on this. Back for the chase in 20 minutes...

Ananya: "the pitch has slowed down considerably..... so... no point in blaming the aus middle order..." It will be interesting see how it plays under lights when the ball gets soft. It'll be great still when the two new balls are hard. Australia have only one specialist spinner and he's playing his second ODI.
