The YRKKH and mostly all the long running shows with long leaps follow a weird version of what we call, "Floating " Timeline..
In floating timeline, The characters do not age but the time changes. For example: The manga, "Detective Conan"
The manga started in 1994 and is still infuriatingly going on.. making me question the exact moment I thought to follow this stupid manga. I should have chosen Naruto. Sorry got distracted.
If you read the manga.. the first 100 chapter were dealing with pagers.. and landline phones.. and burnt floppy disks... and now in the latest chapters we have internet and smartphones. The characters did not age a day from the first chapter, yet the technology and situations changed with the normal world.
Many shows like simpsons, Super hero books etc.
In ITV, it uses the same formula, just tweaks it a bit.
The characters do not age much when the show is running and the timeline and technology mimics the natural time.
Then, when leap happens, the timeline is paused. and the timeline continues to mimic the natural time when the leap stops.
