Weirdly.. In my caste, the groom doesn't put sindoor or mangalsutra on bride. We don't have sindoor at all in our weddings.. we have many pooja in front off fire place with many mantras .. but there is no tying mangalsutra or applying sindoor thingy by the groom.

So if someone puts sindoor on me (stupid thing in real liffe)... I may just not feel the husband vibe.. because humare mei sindoor ko uthna importance hi nahi dete...

So coming to the point, if this happened to Muslim woman or christian woman or sikh woman or any woman from my caste... those woman can easily not feel that much importance to that particular colour on forehead.
