Actually, someone made a good point during last night’s MID mayhem. I cannot remember which member said this but credit goes to them. They suggested newbies should have to wait a few days before they are able to post on the forum.

Let’s face it, people who creat MIDs do not have the mental faculties to engage rationally. So MIDs are created in the heat of the moment to argue or fight against opposing views or to harass someone they dislike in a flame war thread.

When people have a few days to cool off, they know their MIDs aren’t going to have the same impact on the person they are trying to harass. Should be enough to take care of this problem.

Vijay, is this doable? Restricting posts from newbies for a few days before they are able to post?

That is a good point. New members should not be allowed to post for a few days.

I have also thought of a downvote system where getting a certain threshold of downvotes limits posting capabilities. But I worry about people ganging to silence someone they dislike.

That being said, until IF can implement feasible solution - our only support is ourselves.
