At one time, this song was as phenomenally popular as yogurt.

Lyrics

Raṅgū bāzāralā zāte ho, zāū dyā

Dahī ikāyā nete ho, neū dyā

Raṅgū's going to market, ye, let me pass!

Taking yogurt to sell, ye, let me take it!

Raṅgū ḍulata ḍulata çālate

Goryā nākāta nathanī hālate

Hāka mārāvī ekadā vāṭate, vāṭate, vāṭate

Rāhū dyā

Raṅgū walks rocking, rocking

In her fair nose, a nose-pin jiggles

Should I call out once, should I, should I?

Let it go!

Zarā thāmbūna bola gaṃ Raṅgū

Mājhyā manātalaṃ kasaṃ gaṃ sāṅgū?

Tulā pāhūna kāḷīza tuṭate, tuṭate, tuṭate

Tuṭū dyā

Wait a while and talk, girl, Raṅgū

What I've in mind, girl, how can I tell?

Glimpsing you, my heart bursts, bursts, bursts

Let it burst!

Raṅgū vaḷakha hāya mī koṇa?

Mājhyā pāyātalā paiṃzaṇa

Mī pāyātalaṃ pāyāta ṭhevate, ṭhevate, ṭhevate

Ṭhevū dyā

Raṅgū, guess, who am I?

My foot's anklet!

I keep footwear on my foot, keep, keep

Let her keep!

Tuzhā pāṭhalāga Raṅgū karīna

Aśī muraḍūna kāna mī dharīna

Tuzhaṃ kānaśīla thoḍaṃ śekate, śekate, śekate

Çālū dyā

I'll pursue you, Raṅgū

Like this, I'll twist-hold your ear!

I'll warm your ear-side a bit, warm, warm

Let it carry on!

Kelī thaṭṭā aṅgāśī ālī

Tarīhī āmhī sāṅgata hoto

Lāza Raṅgūcī mājhyā gālī

Māzhaṃ kāya hoṇāra?

Raṅgū mardānī thāṭāta çālate, çālate, çālate

Çālū dyā

Tried teasing and it backfired

Even though we told you so!

Raṅgū's blush on my cheek!

What will become of me?

Raṅgū marches in heroic getup, marches, marches

Let her march!

This Saṃskṛta verse that I shared in the Ramayana Katha private forum counts as a song; I've seen it accompanied by Bharatanāṭyam classical dance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Daw4k4KINO0

The metre is Śārdūlavikrīḍita. Yaśodā is telling the story to little Kṛṣṇa, who falls asleep halfway and dreams that he is Rāma.

"Rāmo nāma babhūva." "Huṃ!" "Tad-abalā Sīte'ti." "Huṃ" "Tāṃ ... pitur

Vācā ... Pañcavaṭī-taṭe viharatas ... tasy'āharad Rāvaṇaḥ!"

Nidrā'rthaṃ jananī-kathām iti Harer huṃkārataḥ śṛṇvataḥ

"Saumitre! Kva dhanur? Dhanur? Dhanur?" iti vyagrā giraḥ pāntu vaḥ

"There was someone named Rāma." "Hm." "His woman was called Sītā." "Hm." "By his father's order ..." (No answer.)

"He was living on Pañcavaṭī's bank ..." (No answer.) "when she was ..." (No answer.) "kidnapped by Rāvaṇa!"

To go to sleep, Hari was listening to His mother's story and saying "Hm."

"Saumitri! Where's my bow? My bow? My bow?" May those distracted words of His protect you!
