I don't think she believes he is innocent, she is just not trying out the possibility at this point. She might have seen them having an argument, where Abhi's POV made her rethink things. But at this point we don't even know what argument or what video. It's likely not going to be an absolute trust thing for her though. She will try to find proofs as she goes along and then apologize at the end after she proves him innocent.

this could be true or may closer to the truth. If it was something else akshu could have very well handed over proof to other lawyers. But she took the case on her own as she can't use this proof as using this proof may make goenka's and muskaan to question their dead relative.
So may be akshu took the case to prove abhimanyu as innocent without defaming abhinav as that's the last thing she can do to him. That explains her dead expression when abhi was explaining about abhinav's death.
