Dhruv comes from the 21st, where normal folks don't try to take justice into their hands, but Tara's mind is not that of a 21st century person, not yet at least.

So when Dhruv mentions it, the primal fear takes over in her mind (that the person threatening MEANS what he is saying, and her father's life is in actual danger), and the protective reaction automatically follows.

Not justifying what she's saying- just an insight into her thought process from a 17th century lens.

I get where you're coming from and no, I don't call her a hypocrite because she stood against Dhruv with that saavdhaan when he gave her a verbal threat. That was okay for me. Tara is still in that phase where family comes before lover. They're not equal. For Tara, her family is indeed > Dhruv which is just fine from where I look at it.

I call her a hypocrite because I find her too casual for my liking when it's such a serious and sensitive issue in question. I see no guilt - in nobody from this royal family for what Dhruv, his father and family went through but took not a second to charge at Dhruv when her family was put on the target.

This has got nothing to do with the century difference in my personal opinion. When you claim to love someone but cannot be enough sensitive to your partner when he is in the worst phase of his life especially when your family happens to be responsible for that misery - it is disappointing. This is the time Dhruv needs Tara's support the most and she doesn't seem to understand it.

The way Tara was so fierce whenever it came to protecting Dhruv in the 21st century when she wasn't even in love with him naturally made me expect her love to be that fierce after she fell for him but what she did after Senapati exposed their relationship in front of the king was truly like watching a stranger.

Makes it hard for me to root for her. Bas baaki kuch nahi.
