The history curriculum in India does a piss poor job of teaching contemporary history, especially the world wars. I just remember a few chapters that the teacher rushed through. Mind you, even the USA does an awful job unless you are in AP history. People don't know the difference between 'the holocaust' and 'a genocide.'

That’s a bit unfair, RTH. Majority of countries focus on history of their own country and region. There’s so much material to cover, not many people explore outside the realm of the syllabus. And this absolutely applies to Western countries too.
