First Time In Indian History! Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal Script Never-Seen-Before Test RecordYashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma put up 229-run stand for the first wicket before the India skipper was dismissed on Day 2 of the first Test against West Indies.

India's 229-run opening stand between skipper Rohit Sharma and youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal marked the first time in Test history when India took the lead in the first innings without losing a wicket on Thursday. India managed to restrict West Indies for a score of 150 runs on Day 1 of the first Test at Windsor Park. In reply to the WI's total, Rohit and Jaiswal went on to score a century each which allowed India to take a commanding position in the two-match Test series.

Day 3: After spending a day and a half under the sun and in the field, the West Indies have no respite as they're staring at an unforgiving Indian side that are keen on piling the runs on. After skittling the Windies out cheaply on Day 1, India, in no apparent hurry, set about building an absolute mountain. Centuries for both openers saw India breeze past the Windies' total without even losing a wicket. Seemingly happy with where they have their opposition - their neck right in India's jaws, India have been patient and have held off on landing the killer blow all while extending the hosts' agony. With just two wickets falling in the entirety of Day 2, the Windies have little to look back at and seek inspiration. The pitch started assisting the spinners as early as the 1st session yesterday, with the ball biting to find prodigious turn and bounce on occasions and the ball did beat bat enough times to give the hosts some hope. That hope, however, might be short-lived for even if they do manage to bowl India out, they'll be up against Ashwin and Jadeja on a spin-friendly deck. Will this game take an unpredictable turn (pun intended) or will India continue to batter their opposition mercilessly? Either way, we'll find out shortly!

A fresh day, but some of the same grind awaits West Indies. Welcome to the third day of the first Test of this series. India lead by 162, have eight wickets in hand, and have lots of time to build on their lead so that they can make sure they don't have to bat again in this Test.

Milestones in the offing for India. Yashaswi Jaiswal is 44 from the highest score by an Indian debutant: 187 by Rohit Sharma. There is some still way to go, but don't tell me that Virat Kohli's 29th Test century in not on your minds. Half an hour to go to ball one for the day.

Vikram Rathour | India batting coach - So far we have had a good game, having lost the toss, the bowlers did well on a surface which looked good for batting, the batters have then responded well. It wasn't an easy wicket, it has been slow and the outfield is very heavy. Special mention to Jaiswal for the way he adapted to the conditions in his very first Test, he showed the ability to become accustomed to the conditions. Our job is to prepare them well and give them some game plans regarding the conditions, it's then up to them to back their strengths and score runs. Rohit was very good as well, the way he adapted to the conditions was excellent. The most important thing with batting is to know the conditions and know what shots to play. We haven't yet decided on anything (on any possible declaration)

A look back at yesterday before we get to today. Karthik Krishnaswamy writes on the baby-faced Jaiswal, who looked like a veteran under the helmet.

The fairy tale aspect kicked in when Jaiswal pulled his helmet off, raised his arms, and grinned the stubble-free grin of a 21-year-old who still looks 18. It was at this point that it really sunk in, the fact that this fresh-faced youth was playing Test cricket for the first time.

Pitch report by Samuel Badree and Shakira Selman: Spinners have taken 10 out of 12. There's a lot of rough and cracks are starting to develop. It was hard for the batters. There's going to be more purchase for the spinners. There's some green grass as well that's formed due to the condensation under the covers so there might be something in it for the faster bowlers as well. Going to be another tough day in the field for the West Indian bowlers.

The sun is out, clouds are sparse, and we are ready for an on-time start. Jason Holder is starting the day as he did yesterday. One slip and one gully as Holder goes over the wicket to Jaiswal
