Day 1 of the first Test completely belonged to India and they have ensured a solid footing at Windsor Park, Dominica. West Indies won a good toss and then proceeded to fritter it away with a series of rash decisions, with skipper Kraigg Brathwaite setting the tone with an ill advised hoick off the impressive Ravi Ashwin. Five wickets for India's spinning magician, three for Jadeja and one each for Siraj and Shardul helping the visitors bowl out the hosts for 150. In reply, debutant Yashashvi Jaiswal overcame an uncertain start to remain unbeaten on 40 while Rohit Sharma batted sedately as India reached 80 for 0, only 70 runs adrift of going past the hosts. A good batting day reckons at Roseau and the visitors will look to probably bat West Indies out of the Test.

Ravindra Jadeja - When play started, I thought the wicket might be slow, but we started hitting the right areas, as a bowling unit, we did a great job bowling them out for 150. The way Siraj took that catch, I've been taking so many good catches, it was my turn to clap. I was happy with the wicket, it was an important wicket for us. He did a pretty good job, there must've been some nervousness, but he'll get better and better as his career progresses. I'm happy to bat at 6, which gives me the chance to play a long innings and forge partnerships. We will look to get a big score on the board.

Hot and humid in the middle with some clouds building up behind the hills, but it does look good. There is some rough which has developed and that should interest the spinners. But there are plenty of runs on offer for the batters, reckon Shakera Selman and Samuel Badree, in their pitch report
