At one point in time acting in Hindi film meant having a wider audience and that was the primary reason why Sridevi shifted to Mumbai back then.

But now things have changed and collaborations are happening and movie makers are trying to reach wider audiences. But it is just that it depends on the quality of the movie.

Sahoo was a bad choice by Prabhas. The director was one film wonder same with Radheyshyam. Adipurush is another bad choice. Hopefully his upcoming projects will reverse the fortunes

Chiranjeevi attempted with Syera Narasimha Reddy but it didn't work out.

It all depends on how the story is told and production values.

I think at one point South stars were desperate about pan india visibility. It's kind of a like a progression in any job. You don't wanna be an assistant manager your whole life. You wanna step it up to be a manager. So, after conquering regional cinema, the obvious next step was starring in Hindi cinema. I feel this was particularly true when the southern industry was set in Chennai (or Madras). But as each industry diversified and had greater autonomy to produce their content with big studios coming up in respective states, this all changed. South stars have sobered up now and are avoiding BW and are starring/producing/directing engaging content in their own languages with the likes of MB, AA even refusing offers from BW.

In Prabha's recent case I guess it was just misjudged expectations. Otherwise he's a really good actor if you're someone who follows telugu movies.

It's not desperation but delusion.

So Prabhas was okay with the script and presentation or set up? Or does he not know Hindi at all so he could not judge the script?

All 3 Hindi films chosen by Prabhas post Bahubali have been terrible and disasters for a very good reason.

Is it possible that there is an understanding gap due to language barrier and sometimes South stars are not able to judge script or visualise how it will translate onscreen or sound like in Hindi?

I am not sure if Prabhas knows Hindi that well. Does he?

Perhaps Prabhas isn’t the mega star we all thought.

A lot of how this film turned out could be on him and Krithi

I agree with every word on big studios earlier not backing regional industry much and lack of visibility.

But as I asked other members, is it possible that language barrier has affected ability of South stars to gauge scripts and how it will sound or come across in Hindi? Or whether it is proper language or slang or street side lingo?

Southern languages have next to no similarity with Hindi and Hindi slang used in BW or North or Northwest India.

Do they not hire some staff or translator or reliable manager or PR to help them know what language is, understand script better and how it will sound or translate onscreen?

I am hoping fate of Adipurush makes stars from other industries a bit more cautious and wary of BW and focus more on language part. Someone will dub for you but it is important to see what is being spoken and how is your presence being used and how other characters also speak and how it will sound with you also in the cast.

I am sorry if it offends Prabhas fans but I feel he got carried away by success of Bahubali series and seems to have signed whatever big looking or larger than life role that came his way or big budget film that came his way.

He does not seem to have shown understanding of script in Hindi.

I also wonder why Ram Charan did such a terrible remake of Zanjeer in past.

He is a huge star in Telugu industry.

Opening of Adipurush shows he is well accepted now across India.

But surely not as huge as a pan India star as touted earlier. I am afraid his choice of scripts has been terrible and he will forever be known as the Bahubali actor to audience in North.
