Their life their choice. Who are we to judge them? And how do we they are living in a toxic marriages? We don’t live with them. Maybe they are happy on their way because their life is different from our life. The actors actresses doesn’t live a normal life like us. Money and fame are important to them.

Yes, they can but most of them have had short careers and that wont be enough for whole life. Besides marriage gives them family, children, financial security, social status and companionship in old age. And they derive power from husband's status/ position to control others and they love that.

If the husband is a successful star, it gets even better. And may be they too have fling once in a while.
